Hi, any word on why Ghostbusters 2 is not coming out June 16th as well? Also any news on Collateral with Tom Cruise? I saw it in the rumor column on the Bits and nothing since? Thanks Jeff
Probably has something to do with Ghostbusters 3 70/30 filming before the end of the year

My internet connection is lightening fast(up to 20mbps) and I have the buffering problem as well. I'm hard-wired to the player and use Apple's Time Capsule as my router(fast as you can get). The problem is on their end.
Very likely. It seems that most of the studios have greatly underestimated the load of all these players phoning home that's only going to get worse. As Bill said, ST:TOS did it really right, pinging for a fast RSS feed on demand. Great stuff

Pausing it seems to be the only way to avoid buffering, similar to a loading youtube video - pausing it while it loads so you can watch more of it before it buffers.

The only thing I didn't like about the Goyer commentary was that it was randomized; he would be in the middle of saying something and then it would cut to a different scene earlier on in the film, only to return to part of what he was initially saying before.

Agreed. In my ideal world there would be one BD-Live login into one BD-Live portal with joint participation from all studios. The portal would have general features (collection tracking, general community stuff) accessible from your BD-Live player or computer web browser as well as studio-specific and disc-specific areas.

I realize that's a pipe dream though.

Thanks for the tip. I might have to try that this weekend.

Sucks about the BSG webisodes...

With Season Three of "Chuck" debuting in 2010, do you think the DVD/Blu-ray release of Season Two will be pushed back closer to the premiere of Season Three?

I seriously don't think any gay aspect is what got those webisodes pulled. If that wasn't kosher, Uni simply never would have allowed that to be included in the first place. Ron Moore probably just wanted to have a gay character before Star Trek, I don't see the proposed Bryan Fuller series not including one

Could Chuck be pushed back? yes, but I wouldn't worry about coulds too much.

As someone on the front page mentioned, Cain was "outed" in the "Razor" movie, so I seriously doubt it as well... I was just commenting on the fact that it sucks about them not being included...

As for "Chuck", it doesn't matter to me if they are pushed back a few months (as long as they come), and yes, I am aware they haven't been announced or dated yet, just curious...

Jeff any comments about the rumored Alien franchose reboot.

Id be festively pissed off if Fox would DARE try to remake the first Alien.

That film holds up about as well as it could to this day.

I am intrigued about the possibilty of an Alien prequel.

Ridley Scott is producing supposedly

I doubt it'll be very good

Why they need to reboot is beyond me, just make another Alien movie and hire good people to do it. Do the Alien home planet movie everyone wants to see, send in the Colonial Marines and let the awesome ensue

My biggest concern is that it might entice Fox to hold back features on the upcoming bluray release of the films

Or actually do AVP properly, where the Colonial Marines have to take on both beasties like the original comics and games.

There is some rights issue with doing the original comic story apparently. No, the movies were not good Spend the money buying the original comic miniseries and you'll be much happier

You know, Dark Horse cranked out some amazing Aliens/Predator/Terminator books back in the day when they first got the license. The Robocop vs Terminator series was rather interesting as well, that his individuality was Skynet's catalyst.

With the back cover pic that shows that Watchmen is gonna have a DTS-HDMA audio track and this would be WB's first, any word on what is going on with all the studios switching to DTS-HDMA? If WB switches to it for all upcoming releases then that would only leave Paramount left that uses Dolby TrueHD. Just wondering if there is somthing going on behind the scenes.

This is going to be a pretty nice Christmas (keep in mind these below are confirmed rumors)

Aliens Quad (Holiday 2009)
Forrest Gump (Nov 2009)
Indiana Jones (Dec 2009)
Lord of the Rings Trilogy (Dec 2009)
Titanic (Late 2009 or early 2010)
Contact (Fall 2009)

Here is hoping on these as well for the holidays. Any word or news about possible releases on these?:

Apollo 13
HBO From the Earth to the Moon
War of the Worlds
Minority Report
From Dusk Til Dawn
Armageddon
Blade Trilogy
Bad Boys
Jurassic Park
True Lies
Saving Private Ryan
The Island

And not sure what other prior DVD released guy action/sci-fi flicks we might still need released on Blu.

Well there is still, "The Abyss" but that will be in limbo for awhile with Jim busy on Avatar. I think I read he just needs to approve the HD transfer that Fox has waiting for him.

Would also not mind the extended cut of ID4 (maybe next July 4th)

UPDATE: Oh and I did not forget Star Wars, but these get here when George is ready and no sooner. I just don't anticipate these film releases anymore because they are always the last on the format.

Another addition to that list would be the rest of the Star Trek movies.

And haven't there been some rumblings about Tron, too?

Yeah, it's a ways out and I think I heard they weren't planning to wait that long. Am I remembering incorrectly?
