I normally wouldn't post this as news as there's not much here, but I am so damned excited for this movie...
A bunch of web sites got to send people to the Iron Man 2 set. I've read a few of the reports and they're under a time constraint on what they can say and when, but what
El Guapo had to say over at Latino Review was very good and amped me up just a little more to see this:
Quote:
There are days when I really love my job. Yesterday was one of those days when myself and some other journalists were the first people outside of the production to visit the set of Iron Man 2. Iron Man has always been one of my favorite super heroes, and at one time I almost had the entire run of the Iron Man comic books, so getting a chance to check out the set of one of my childhood favorites was a real dream come true for a geek like me. Especially after watching the first Iron Man and seeing what a great job Favreau and his creative team did with the characters and the respect they showed to the fans.
I drove down to Marvel (Raleigh) Studios in Manhattan Beach and had a chance to speak with Marvel President of Production Kevin Feige about everything Iron Man 2 and future super hero properties and projects. We also got to speak, in length, to Jon Favreau and Tony Stark himself about the Iron Man sequel. Unfortunately, I can't talk about what was said in the interviews. For now...
We did get to see the set of Tony Stark's lab which isn't new for those of you who saw the original. Yes, there are familiar vehicles that are still sitting in his garage (with one incredible change that a car fan like myself went totally nuts over), but the lab isn't filled with just older things from the first film. There are also some new amazing technological advances that Tony will use in the lab. We even got to see the old suits on display (you've seen them in pictures that were recently released) but one slot that could hold another suit of armor was mysteriously empty.
I wish I could tell you about everything I saw and heard while there, but I can't. That will have to wait for another day, so this preview piece is a short one. What I can tell you is that the things I did see and hear convinced me that Iron Man 2 will be even bigger and better than the first one. Stay tuned in the weeks to come when I'm able to give you a more complete set visit report.
I'd like to personally thank everyone at Paramount for the opportunity to see Iron Man 2 up close and personal. To Kevin Feige for being such a likeable and honest guy to talk to. You can see tell right off the bat what a fan he is of these comic book characters. Robert Downey Jr. was just as funny as gracious as always, but the biggest thank you goes to Jon Favreau, who is as big of a fan of Iron Man as we all are (even wearing a cool Iron Man t-shirt), and really seems to enjoy talking to the online community about the characters that make up this wonderful part of the Marvel Universe.
Tomorrow at noon pacific I'll post a piece summarizing what Kevin Feige talked about in regards to furture Marvel movies. (Devin from CHUD and I have theories as to the Avengers villain). And like I said, be sure to check back in a few weeks to read my report and learn more about what went on behind the scenes of Iron Man 2. I don't know about you, but this is one sequel I'm really looking forward to seeing!!
