no, just adjust your levels and take it easy on the volume and you'll be fine!

no, that is what they put out on the website, check your manual in the back, it says 250wpc. i verified this with emo in an email; the manual is correct, send them and email and they will confirm it with you too!

I am very happy with my speakers, my settings and of course my Emo XPA-5 @ 250wpc all channels driven @ 8ohms! Oh, the other two channels on the XPA-5 are for my two surround TSi200 speakers set to -8.0db and set to large!

Think, if you buy the XPA-5, you could use 3 channels for your fronts and then use the other two channels to bi-amp your surrounds and drive your low freq's with 250wpc and the low freq's with the UPA-7 @ 125wpc...I bet that would change your surrounds juice for the better!

I'm gonna buy the UMC-1 and also the UPA-2 for my surround back 2 channels, then, i'm done! for now....
Well solarrdadd ~ I've been going crazy thinking about this for 2 weeks & I think you & red_5ive have helped me make up my mind !
Thanks for the input !

the amp is always putting out it's rating. you control how loud it is with your volume control and how forceful with the level control. your always rolling 250wpc @ 8ohms into those speakers!

400 watts at 8 ohms? 4 ohms I would understand but 8 ohms watch out! That's my kind of amp! If they did a promotion sale for $399, I'd be in.

the manual only give all channels driven for 8 ohms (250) and 4 ohms (440)
the website says this:

• 200 watts RMS/channel into 8 ohms, all channels driven

• 5 channels - 8 ohm= 200 watts per channel

• 4 channels - 8 ohm = 230 watts per channel

• 3 channels - 8 ohm = 250 watts per channel

• 2 channels - 8 ohm = 275 watts per channel

• 1 channel - 8 ohm = 300 watts per channel

click any image for a larger view

4 ohm rating:

• 5 channels - 4 ohm = 350 watts per channel

• 4 channels - 4 ohm = 375 watts per channel

• 3 channels - 4 ohm = 400 watts per channel

• 2 channels - 4 ohm = 450 watts per channel

• 1 channel - 4 ohms = 500 watts per channel

all of these numbers are actually lower than the "actual" rating of the unit i would expect that number to be at or very, very close to 300wpc if not 300, given at 5 channels it's 250 (actual)

Klipsch speakers are very efficient, I personally wouldn't want anything rated over 200watts. Like Solardadd said you could go higher but your speaker gain/levels should be adjusted properly and don't go nuts with the volume. You could put 50watts in your speakers and they would still sound exceptional, but your levels could be turned up as much as needed.

I remember A post from Big Daddy not to long ago with an article from (I THINK) A speaker designer that said you should feed you're speakers with at least twice as many watts then the speaker is rated for ! Of course you would not full blast the volume , But that is what it said !!

I can't believe that to be true, tube amps are rated at very low wattages and you could power very hungry speakers with 10watts and they would sing like you couldn't imagine. Having headroom or extra power is a good thing, but it's not always needed.
