I could have sworn I read it in the UMC features thread on the Emo forums. I just went through that thread and it wasn't there. I'll keep digging, and if I find it I'll let ya know. Honestly, though, I'm not as concerned about IIz as I am over Dolby Volume since I like to watch movies at night after everyone's gone to sleep... there's just too many disruptions during the day!

Cam55 your Yamaha receiver does have a 12v trigger output so all you you need is a 3.5mm(1/8'') male mono to male mono cable. Also you will have to go into your setup or menu on your receiver and set your dc trigger output to ON.That should do the trick

that 12 volt trigger out will operate any piece of equipment with a 12v trigger in piece of a/v equpment. it has nothing to do with the equipments power rating. it only tells the other piece of equipment to turn on or turn off. when you turn on your receiver, the 12 volts fires on and outputs. the piece of equipment you have the 3.5mm cable connected to it's input (an Emo amp) would get that 12 volts and turn the amp on. when you turn off your receiver the 12 volts out stops and the input of (an Emo amp) the equipment would see the 12 volts is gone and turn off.

yes, i saw your receivers back and you don't have a trigger. no problem, you can go to radio shack and tell them you want a 12v 250ma center positive power supply to use with a 3.5mm cable. also get a 3.5mm mono cable. plug the cable into the power supply make sure it's set to "center positve" and 12 volts then plug the power supply into the "switched receptacles" on the back of your receiver.
what this does is when your receiver turns on, the outlets on the back of it get power, then they energize the power supply which then sends 12v into the trigger of your XPA amp then it turns on. just the opposite when you turn off the receiver, the 12v goes away and the amp turns off. this is how i have my XPA-5 connected for control via my receiver. |

go to radio shack and ask for this unit and tell them you need a tip for it as well as a 3.5mm mono cable. remember you may need to get a long cable depending on how far your receiver is from your amp.
http://www.radioshack.com/product/in...ductId=2552560 this is the exact one i am using right now. you should be able to get it all for under $30 bucks I would also recommend that you get a short 3 foot 2 prong extension cord from say home depot or lowes. this will keep the powersupply away from the receiver, the receiver gets hot and this will eventually damage the little powersupply. i know this because that is how i lost my first powersupply, the receiver gets too hot. with the 3 foot extension (make sure it's 2 prong) you can plug the extension cord end into the receiver outlet and then move the 12v power supply away from the physical receiver, got it? hope this helps you out! |

the powersupply has two tiny prongs that different ends plug into it based on the voltage and type of plug. let them know you want it to work with the 3.5mm don't forget it or when you get home, there will be no place to plug your 3.5mm cable into. the powersupply is made to be universal so with the right tip you could power any low voltage piece of equipment, i.e. portable dvd players, cell phones, portable tv's, etc., got it?

you dont have to buy the tips, they sell 3.5mm male to male all in one.I saw your receivers specifications and you do have the 12v output along with the zone remote which you dont need.http://www.4electronicwarehouse.com/.../htr-6090.html
