I was happy to see the back of Nick as his character always rubbed me the wrong way. I agree it was a miss to kill off Madison though, so I'm happy to see her come back.

Nick's character was very interesting early on, but he never developed very well. Nick was always an easily manipulated follower who could never get past his bad habits.

On the other hand, Alicia was a character I didn't think much of for the first couple seasons, who developed extremely well over time.

I always thought they made a mistake moving people from TWD to FTWD. Turning it into the Morgan Jones show always rubbed me the wrong way.

Hopefully it's better than the main show ...

The premise was decent and could've been a tense story given the confined location.
Sadly I thought it was awful clearly no budget a distinct lack of innovation in the script and about three locations on the ship acting wasn't great either. wrapped up very quickly I had actually forgotten about nick stahl's character.
If you've seen the sci fi show Day of the Dead it's remarkably similar in budget & tone to that show minus the comedy elements.

The idea was sound execution lacking.

Watched this on AMC+ yesterday - not bad! I liked the submarine setting (perfect for a zombie outbreak).

I liked that the show had the balls to actually go through with
[Show spoiler]a nuclear apocalypse. I thought for sure they'd cop out and have Teddy's plan foiled, but nope... the nukes (some of them at least) really did fall. The post-nuclear setting added an interesting new setting to the show.

I hadn't thought about that, but it's a good point. It's nice when shows/movies
[Show spoiler]really see something like that through, rather than coming up with a convenient way to avoid it.

Oof... midseason premiere is a hot mess.

On the other hand, the Dead in the Water spinoff episode was surprisingly great.

I loved the way Nick hid in that baseball stadium for months and watched while his Mum went out every day looking for food.

His sister Alicia could be just as selfish and useless - the group of people she was with at one stage were struggling to get enough food and rather than help she decides drive around for weeks painting trees.

Oh man, do I agree with this. I really liked where they were going with the show in season 3. Then it became, as you said, the Morgan Jones Show. The whole half season(?) with the Martha character? Urgh.

Episodes premised around a character having a mental breakdown/delusions tend to be among the worst TWD or FTWD episodes. Episode 7x09 with Alicia was no different. Truly one of the worst FTWD episodes to date. Literally the only interesting thing in the episode was
[Show spoiler]the character of Paul... whom they killed off. lol

Am I the only one who finds Howard oddly likable? The guy survived countless years surviving more or less on his own, so he clearly has some serious survival skills. Wish he'd just oust Strand and take over, but I think his fate is too tied to Strand at this point.

I know they've mentioned Howard apparently having a wife in the past a few times, but I still can't shake the feeling that Howard and Strand have something more than a leader/right-hand-man relationship going on. Like they are lovers on the side, which would explain a lot about Howard's otherwise unexplainable attachment to Strand.

It makes no sense as you say.
He has the ability to not only survive but thrive throughout the apocalypse even managing to preserve artwork so clearly, he's competent sadly like a lot of characters he's merely a plot device in this case for Strand to survive.
I still can't understand when the nukes went off they both stood there at the window and the explosion just sort of petered out not even smashing the window.
Daniel is another shot basically point-blank in the head just jogs it off and survives.

That might not have been the most unbelievable part from the time Daniel was shot. The idea that Strand could overpower Daniel in a fight to shoot him in the first place was laughable.

I can't remember but didn't the dam get destroyed right after and Daniel gets washed away later found living in the scrapyard good as new?

I believe so. The plot armor is especially think with Daniel. He has more lives than Skidmark the cat (no clue what happened to that cat). I haven't liked what they've done with him since about season 3. They should have kept him the perpetually gloomy, hard edged Daniel rather than turning him into the smiling barber. He still shows flashes of the Daniel from early in the series, but it's less and less.

I think they were going to have a massive change up with most of the old cast binned off either because they wanted out or contract negotiations.
The destruction of the dam with daniel being shot point blank in the head was meant to be the end for him. His daughter didn't last much longer & Nick left around the same time then Maidson. I think they wanted the Strand show which they kinda have with Strand & Alicia now.
I think to counter this they wanted to bring an established character which is when were got the Morgan Jones show.

Seems like Frank Dillane made a poor career move when he left FTWD. He's done next to nothing in the years since he departed the show. Wonder if it's because he looks like Johnny Depp, whose reputation took a toll right around the same time Dillane left the show.

I thought Michael Greyeyes played the best character in the series and he just walked off into the sunset around this point and hasn't been seen since!

I had hoped the family and extended family would've just spent a few years in post apocalypse California before they met Strand and set out on the Abigail.
