Just remembered i still didn't watch Gemini Man 3D and gave it a try.

Great Sci-Fi movie with espionage elements.

Besides limited shots of CGI that didn't work and the catacombs fight also made in CGI that failed a bit in realism the movie is really well done and the 3D is crisp and clear from beginning until the end.

I liked it.

The CGI blew me away outside of the moments you have highlighted, and the ending scene which looked really off. Presumably that was a late in the day reshoot.

The 3D looks amazing and the movie is full of great locations.

Jack the Giant Slayer / The BFG

Both were very enjoyable movies with good characters and an interesting story.

JTGS had a few good popouts and pretty decent 3D overall but in general most of the movie was mild to medium strength 3D.

BFG didn't have a lot of pop outs but the 3d was generally better overall than JTGS. The lighting and effects were mesmerizing at times.

Both had some quite funny moments.

All 3 are definitely worth owning on 3D Blu-ray
Have Beowulf and JTGS (unwatched). Will re-order BFG as my first one did not push through.

I promised I wouldn't buy any more classic movies but these arrived today lol. These look fine for what they are and the 3D looks good which is the main thing. But I won't buy movies I don't think I will enjoy even if they have great 3D which I why I decided against buying the bubble.

These classic movies have strong 3d. But I don't think I enjoyed any of them enough to sit through the whole movie. I've found now that the movie itself is more important than the 3d strength which might be blasphemy around here. Which is why I tend to watch the same movie I love over and over again rather than other movies I probably will not like.

With the 2010s being a "mehdiocre" decade for movies, and with live actors intertwined with CGI still not seamlessly blending in 2D, 3D is the value-add for the films. If only I could have seen them all in 3D the first time around.

For classics, I can understand it. Although I did recently watch the first half of Taza, Son of Cochise in 2D and had fun with it. Gun Fury was rather standard as a Western in 2D though, also judging by the first portion. That said, If only all of the Westerns had been made in 3D. Somehow those guys knew, in only 3 years of work, how to handle the 3D format better than do most of the guys in the decade+ of the Bronze Age.

It's more me, never had an interest in classic movies so just because it has great 3d, still not interested. Although I do like westerns so maybe I will give that a try. Thought I would like the kung fu movies that just came out but nope, couldn't watch more than 10 minutes. Much rather watch Kung Fu Panda!

I don't have any issue with classic movies because I liked both Vincent Price movies. It came from Outer Space was simple yet intelligent sci-fi. Silent Madness and Parasite look like fun silly shlock-fests. But CfromTBL, WofTH, Shogun Women and maybe Gog are borderline watchable for me with 3D being the only redeeming quality. I'm not judging whether a movie is good or bad. I'm just talking about what I find interesting or entertaining.

Same here. But I personally struggle to watch many Shaw Bros and other pre new-wave HK cinema. I've just finished watching a trio of remastered 80s classics. Shogun Women just isn't in the same league.

It's a bit unfortunate that the martial arts films don't seem to have gotten as much love by 3D as the "chop socky" films did. Although if more modern chop socky had only gotten 3D too...the legendary Remo Williams film could have beaten the 3D of the Statue of Liberty fight in NWHome.

But in fairness I have only so far sampled Dynasty and Shogun Women.

One of the reviews here for Taza says that it is too spicy for modern audiences. I'm not sure I get that, but then again the 2019 film Aladdin was deemed too spicy in 2020

Proper Martial Arts movies were extremely time consuming and labour intensive. It's why the best ones from 40 years ago are still better than most Hollywood action movies in terms of action and choreography. Making those movies in 3D would have just been an added complication.

I think that they could have been up to it, doesn't seem like it would be more than what was required to film Dynasty, Shogun etc? Martial Arts films have few cuts, at least that's how it seems to me, in their action scenes, makes editing easier.

Gun Fury has cuts between a POV of the stage coach driver, various views inside of the coach, and third person views of the exterior of the coach in motion. All that 3D editing in the 50s makes the Bronze Age claims about 3D being hard to work with seem suspect.

(Gun Fury uses rear projection type techniques to simulate scenery seen through the stagecoach window. I wonder if 3D will enhance that, like it does all of the Bronze Age greenscreening)

Watched Tai Chi Zero and Tai Chi Hero. Lots of fun action & good 3D. Several side stories that you have to stick with that are all resolved and make sense in the end of the second part (Hero). Will definitely watch these again. 4/5 stars

Watched Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom 3D and Walt Disney World’s Wishes, two homemade amateur 3DBRs from ebay. Wishes is a fireworks show and the other is (unauthorized) footage inside several of the rides. Both have good 3D and are fun for those who enjoy unscripted 3D footage of crowds and “documentary-type” scenes of places during a certain time period (2013). Recorded by a professional videographer who is a 3D enthusiast. Nice (unlicensed) background music. These are basically better-than-I-expected home movies. 3.5/5

Watched The Seventh Son. Good 3D and a fun movie. It doesn’t match some of the best 3D out there, but still a good (predictable) movie with nice depth that I will watch again - 4/5

I just watched Humpback Whales which turned out to be one of the least impressive IMAX 3D films I have seen so far. Almost no pop-outs and relentless use of horrible bouncy pop music with far too little actual whale singing. Like The Nut Job 2 this is also another one of those releases that's mixed way too loud, drowning out the narration which itself distractingly keeps cutting between two narrators.

The most effective 3D shots were where the camera was mounted on a moving boat, while the whale footage had OK volume but not a lot of depth - overall it was so disappointing that next time I might even see what it looks like in 4K and skip the 3D version.

Just again watched Green Lantern.

Strongly disagree with the poor 3D writeup. I thought the overall 3D was quite effective, even for a 2011 post conversion. Good depth and though there was a lack of popouts, this was compensated by many an object subtly protruded just outside the screen. Did not find the 3D lacking in the dark scenes. Color and detail quite good.

Story was fun though certain scenes and background music was obvious redone Christopher Reeve superman.

Highly recommended if one doesn't yet own this.

Just watched Captain Marvel.

3 years ago the movie in cinema was great... now it is even better.

Great movie, nice throwbacks and awesome soundtrack and 3D really tweaking everything in it. I also love Carol's super saiyan look.
