Only if Criterion does it I'd imagine.

We can all rest easy, because it appears that The Nan Movie is indeed coming. Amazon have updated artwork with the BBFC certificates (sadly, there is no 18 version with graphic nudity and explicit sex):

According to Wikipedia, the film has made only $2.1 million. Dream Horse made over three times that amount worldwide ($6.6 million) last year, but WB pulled the Blu-ray. Granted, The Nan Movie made all its money so far in the UK, while Dream Horse made less than $1 million in the UK, but that was also last year when the pandemic was arguably worse.

This should be good news for Operation Mincemeat, however, because in the UK alone, that film more than doubled the box office take of The Nan Movie.

i'm genuinely concerned, now that Poundland are getting rid of their blu ray sections, where on earth will all those copies of The Nan Movie go?

The horror. The horror...

I suspect it's based on an over optimistic interpretation of Tate's previous UK home video numbers or an ironclad contractual obligation. Like Gladiatress and Roy Chubby Brown's UFO, despite its delusions of kitchen sink grandeur it has all the hallmarks of a film financed with home video sales in mind.

Verve Pictures will release Firebird - a real gem of a film that has spread from its Vue release to gain additional showings in Picturehouse and ODEON - a heart-wrenching yet endearing Soviet era gay romance with a repressed forbidden love that must be hidden from authorities, and starring Ukrainian actor Oleg Zagorodnii - on 6th June.

It looks like there won't be a physical option for the year's best film thus far, RRR

That’s just the state of Indian cinema nowadays, the focus is on TV and streaming after a film completes its theatrical run. In the US, you can only find the Hindi dub on Netflix, with the other languages (including the original Telugu) only on ZEE5. From what I can gather the UK has one of the best markets for Indian cinema, with multiple new cinema releases every week, though a smaller number are wide releases and most don’t last past a week or a weekend. But the days of labels like Eros releasing BDs and DVDs is long gone. Even in India many titles only have a DVD release and no BDs.

Rajamouli’s film Bāhubali also doesn’t have any great options for a disc - a German Blu-ray with German and Telugu tracks, a Japanese Blu-ray with Japanese and Telugu tracks, but no English subtitles. Only the Hindi dub of Bāhubali has English subtitles.

Germany has had some labels like Rapid Eye Movies releasing some Indian cinema, but unless you know Hindi or German they’re not English friendly.

This year I’ve been making an effort to catch more Indian films in the cinema, knowing they’ll be confined to streaming and never get a disc so it feels more important not to miss them - so far I’ve seen RRR, Jana Gana Mana, Gangubai Kathiawadi, Hridayam, Runway 34, Bheemla Nayak. I’m not expecting any of them to get discs even though most of them are really good.

I'm just so grateful Benediction is getting a physical release at all even if it is DVD.

I'm hoping for a US Blu Ray release which is possible as Roadside Attractions have a good record for releasing Blu Rays.
