After sitting a long time on the fence of this format war, I went blu. What pushed me that direction, after looking at BOTH sides very objectively was that it seems that every HD-DVD release has problems! I was just tonight browsing HD-DVD forums and it looks like Heroes (which is non combo disk), Evan Almighty, and Hot Fuzz have had some playback issues.
Now, this is a silly place to do this, but if I'd say this on a HD-DVD forum they'd call me a troll. If I'd want to buy HD-DVD, which I kinda did, how on earth could I possibly justify it with all the STUPID problems they apparently have in their QA process? I mean really. It's insane. There was a public poll on AVS's HD-DVD software area reporting playback issues with 300, a mega blockbuster. The public poll had well over 10% people reporting defective disks? What if HD-DVD wins and they sell 5 million copies of a disk with 10% failure? WTF? It makes me angry really, because if I wanted to buy HD-DVD tomorrow, I wouldn't be able to and trust my purchase? Hmm, I could buy an off brand player (Venture, RCA), or pick HD-DVD's high end **Onkyo** player, and then buy overpriced combo disks which are riddled with problems? Where do I sign up? I'll drive my beloved Ford Pinto to whichever store I can buy them at. Sheesh. End of rant. Last edited by beavis667; 09-05-2007 at 06:58 AM. |
