It’s very odd but really good. My only regret is buying the HMV exclusive here in the U.K. it’s meant to resemble a VHS copy but the packaging is cheap cardboard. I may buy it second hand at some point just to get the basic amaray case.

Sorry for any confusion I may have caused by using the acronym IPTV. My use of it was in reference to a methodology as in data reduced video and audio in packets delivered from a CDN to an end user. The methodology is similar to a DVD PS, ATSC 1.0 TS, DVB-S TS, Blu-ray M2TS, etc. So I will use the acronym RTSP or going foward.

The Rings of Power - 20 Mbps for video and 448 Kbps for audio, first Prime video I have saw that exceeded 15 Mbps for video.

As to UHD Blu-ray, I have spot checked quite a few disc and rarely saw the video bit rate drop below 40 Mbps, many bounce between ≈ 50 to 80 Mbps and some spikes of over 100 Mbps. Audio, no contest, ≈ 5 to 14 Mbps or 7 times the best streaming rate on the low side 18 times on the high side. For most streamers the difference is much greater.

Netflix, the data rates are pathetic. The Netflix server test will show > 100 Mbps in prime time, Netflix FAST (here) will show > 260 Mbps but ATV4K HUD may show network bandwidth around 30 Mbps.

The ATV4K HUD is the only diagnostic, non PC app, that shows network bandwidth. In the video the guy said he had Gigabit fiber but HUD only showed his network bandwidth < 350 Mbps.

So to be very clear - with RTSP the A/V quality will be very dependent on time of day watched, the service used and your ISP. With my disc all these variables are removed and the disc play the same no matter the time of day they are viewed.

You wanted testing for Vudu and HBO Max, here it is. He shoots down Amazon Prime, and I don't get that. I asked him if he was connected WiFi, that might be the problem.

Wifi is NOT the problem; would you give this nonsense a rest already? You are just like the "technicians" that my ISP sends out that always try to blame my modem whenever there is a problem; reflexively spouting the same mindless crap every single time there's an issue.

I stream Amazon Prime, among others, with both my wired and wireless networks and there is NO performance difference. NONE. If either of those networks was sub par & problematic, I wouldn't use it.

My import copy of arrived in a broken case, but the disc appears to be fine.

Amazon.fr, like our domestic Amazon, shipped it in an envelope that provided no meaningful protection at all.

Hey relax Vilya, I know people love their WiFi and for Mobile Devices it's very good. When it comes to your Big Screen UHD TV, Hardwire is the only way to go! Let's see what Jaremy says!

In my honest opinion, I don’t think Amazon has been able to get to grips with their delivery method for streamed content. Be it SD, HD or UHD, the backgrounds in certain challenging situations, just give way completely. A pixelated mess imo.

Apple is the very best out there with crisp, sharp video that hides artefacts better than most.

Disney are second with Netflix third. Of the big 4, obviously Amazon in last place.

Can’t comment on HBO as we get their content via pay tv (Sky).

As always, UHD disc is the winner overall. No secrets there!

Hardwire is not the only "way to go." If it were, it is what most people would use. Most people happily stream over wifi networks.

I don't give a fook what "Jaremy" has to say on the subject. I have my own proven track record with wifi as do many other people.

The only time hard wired would be an advantage is gaming if one’s ping was poor. Even then, we are talking fractions of a second response improvement for the likes of Call Of Duty.

For streaming video, (as we all know) there is no difference.

Here is an idea.

Maybe hardwired is better but Wifi is good enough.

I hardwire a few things including my ATV4K but the kids use wifi like they don't know any better.

One thing about this topic, ... the more things hardwired the less things sharing the wifi bandwidth.

Absolutely no conceivable difference when viewing streaming content. I have used both methods. It makes no difference, it’s the source that’s the restriction, not our viewing methods.

That’s the point here, that hard wiring isn’t suddenly going to see streaming content locked into 4K disc quality.

RIght,

It won't affect streaming because that has been compressed to the max and designed to be used via Wifi or wireless networking.

Thankfully streaming sucks.

People are laughing at you, again!

At the start of the video he stated the he had gigabit fiber. When he shows the diagnostics from the ATV4K HUD it clearly shows the network bandwidth > 300 Mbps for some services and < 6 Mbps for others. Had a graphic over the HUD during the Prime Video segment so I could not see the network bandwidth.

How many times does one need to post, “with RTSP the A/V quality will be very dependent on time of day watched, the service used and your ISP” before you get it?

As to Prime Video, at my location it is fairly good in terms of network bandwidth. Already posted Prime Video original content is pretty good but the digital locker content is lacking as in, fairly low data rates and 192 Kbps DD+ 5.1 sound were others will be DD+ Atmos with 448 Kbps or greater.

At his location Vudu was pretty good and MA was poop, at my location it is reversed, at least it was on the day and time checked, all subject to change.
