Looking at the former Olive releases, maybe Force Of Evil? I believe it’s had a recent restoration since Olive’s Blu-ray, so that could make it a potential candidate. The other ones I’m thinking could be likely candidates are Champion, Rope Of Sand, A Double Life, and Body And Soul.

This likely means that a sizable chunk of Kino's demographic consists of folks 50 years or older, which is odd because, I would think, the older someone is, the more they'll understand and appreciate the merits of a superior format. I doubt it's primarily young twentysomethings buying 60+ year old films on DVD.

Considering their love of Lang, I wouldn't rule out "Cloak and Dagger" as a possibility.

As someone in that older demographic, I can assure you that the differences in quality are often lost to our failing senses.

Something for you all to look forward to.

It still results in about the same amount of space, just a little bit more, being used. I can see how it occurs though especially when people respond to a post as they read through many new pages in the thread.

I'm not sure why you think someone's age would determine their ability or even interest in the merits of a superior format. Again, as KLI would point out, this forum of BD collectors and A/V enthusiasts are just a small fraction of movie buyers. DVDs are generally the lowest priced option and easily drives sales.

If previous Olive titles are a possibility, I wouldn't rule out The Strange Affair of Uncle Harry— Kino also loves Siodmak (I mean, who doesn't?)— Lang's Secret Beyond the Door, or Rossen's Body and Soul.

I was hoping it would be The File on Thelma Jordan, since the Olive version had a really damaged source, but that is 1950 so it wouldn't fit.

Well, some sources call it 1949, so who knows. I'd upgrade. Park Circus lists a DCP of it, so I'm sure it has to be better than the Olive release.

I just checked the DVD section. Nope, no Kino thread. BTW, without a forum presence, Kino would probably not have grown as big as they have. Yeah, they've been around for ages but I'm fairly certain their presence here and on the HTF have had a substantial impact on awareness and sales.

You're further illustrating my point, that people here are living in a vacuum. As I said, KLI drops a few DVD sales morsels here and there. I never made the argument that their presence in A/V forums has had no effect on their BD sales. You're creating multiple strawmen.

Just wanted to push what is perhaps now my favorite multi-film set from Kino:

All 3 films are really great. All definitely in the noir tradition, and all 3 extremely different and unique, and often unpredictable. It's around $28 or so on Amazon right now, so grab it, guys.

Kino, if you do another deal with Gaumont, please release another set, or two, or three, or four

Arrow put it out on a region-free Blu-ray with what I imagine was a newer restoration. Since, I already have that release, I kind of hope its Champion or Body And Soul.

Lucky Jordan (1942)
• Brand New HD Master – From a 2K Scan of the 35mm Fine Grain
• NEW Audio Commentary by Film Historian Samm Deighan
• Theatrical Trailer
• Reversible Art
• Optional English Subtitles

B&W 84 Minutes 1.37:1 Not Rated
Screen great Alan Ladd (China, O.S.S., Calcutta, Shane) stars as a wise guy who finds himself in one predicament after another in Lucky Jordan. When he discovers that he can no longer avoid the draft, a self-serving New York racketeer (Ladd) fails at his half-hearted attempt at military life. He goes AWOL, stealing a car that happens to contain a briefcase full of valuable military plans. What follows is an escapade filled with Nazi spies, espionage, assassins, saboteurs…and a beautiful member of the WAC determined to reform the gangster. Directed by Frank Tuttle (This Gun for Hire) and co-starring Helen Walker (Murder, He Says), Lucky Jordan is tough…trigger mad…and terrific!

Yeah, this is an amazing set and some of the best noir I've seen. Gaumont is a treasure chest of great films and there a lot of good ones Kino passed over this time, especially with Lino Venutra. Maybe in another deal.
