Some years ago I bought the Criterion DVD (either around 1999 or very early 2000s) and when I learned a Blu-ray edition came out, I always wanted that but didn't want to spend the money. Now that UHD Blu-ray format is out, of course I'd love to see a 4K version of Two-Lane Blacktop but I don't think it's going to happen.

What to do? Recently I replaced the Blu-ray of Citizen Kane that had the defect from Criterion...the replacement came with a $10 gift certificate to use at Criterion.com. With $10 off, Two-Lane Blacktop was still more than what I would pay for the same title on Blu-ray via Amazon but at least I took this opportunity to use the gift certificate.

Why may I ask was the restoration made from the interpositive instead of the original camera negative? Maybe I'll never know why, but if a UHD Blu-ray version of this movie ever comes out, that seems like it would be the perfect time to go back to the original source for a an even higher quality release of this movie...better than what anyone ever saw in the theatres during it's initial release back in 1971.
