Default NEW TOY ALERT: Samsung PN64F8500!!!

I have finally Ascended to Greatness!

After my Samsung PN64E8000 died, I tired to fix unsuccessfully, I was sad, distraught and crushed! I loved that TV and I had calibrated it decently so it looked great!

But sadly during a power brown-out my surge protector took a hit. I was able to replace it but forgot the circuit was open and it fried my TV's picture output. I proceeded to replace the Power Board and the Logic Board but that didn't fix it, I still intend on fixing it but that will require much more time.. Months passed...

As luck would have it, I was able to find a listing in D.C. for a Samsung PN64F8500!! One of THE Holiest of Grails of 3D Plasma TV's! I reached out to the seller and they graciously held it until I was able to coordinate and travel up from Lynchburg, VA to pick it up.

Once I got it home (after a day in museums!) I was able to get ISF calibration notes from online and cross reference and use the full 10-Point White Balance for both 2D and 3D configurations.

I must say this is hands down the most absolute best amazing TV I've ever owned, I was constantly wowed at the detail and richness of the colors and textures in the films I was watching.

Samsara felt like an entirely new film experience! Blade Runner was like watching something anew again with the dark scenes drowned out by neon buzz. Testing my 3D I broke out Tron: Legacy, Dr. Strange and Dune to begin with and noticed even more detail than compared to the E8000. I cannot believe how much improvement in a year Samsung did on this TV! Akira (Pioneer Remaster) on DVD looked fresh and new yet again!

For my final test, last night (5/18/23) I watched Black Panther: Wakanda Forever in 3D after importing from Japan. I have to say I agree with the recent reviews posted (on 5/16/23) but I must say that it missed was that the attention to detail in the costuming really showed up, the colors of all the attire just popped but didn't overwhelm! And the Real Black Pro Panel is just worth the hype back in the day.

I hope to one day also own a Panasonic TC-PZT60 to also be able to compare, but for now, I am satisfied beyond and am happy to finally be able to sit down and watch my backlog of movies!

If anyone has questions or comments, I'd love to hear about them and discuss! I love talking Plasma and 3D with my Blu-Ray community! My Home Theater is COMPLETE!! (FOR NOW..!)

Feedback is also welcome! I'll work on posting my whole theater room when I get the time after I clean this weekend!
