I haven't watched 4K discs much, but the only issue I have had with playback is in
regards to old anime DVDs. The issue is fixable though by changing an audio option.

I just recently bought this player and watched The unbearable weight of massive talent and had major playback issues.

Has anyone experienced this?

I bought it region free so I can play any disc. Is there a way to correct the issue or should I return it?

Try cleaning the disc with a clean microfiber cloth. It might work

Guys how are you?. Reviving this post because still having problems with newer discs and this player. Some of them work like a charm when i clean them and some other dont. Don´t know what else to do... Any other player to recommend me? Dont kn Actually no many new players in the market and the ones that are new have really high prices.

I also continue to have issues with some BD100s (BD66s, regular blu-rays, and DVDs all play without a hitch) on my UBK80. In all glitch cases, if I go back to just before the error area, they'll replay fine without error and they do appear to be around the 2nd layer change between layer 2 and 3. I've updated my power strip, replaced the HDMI cable, cleaned the laser lens, re-seated the drive ribbon cables to the main board, and yes, thoroughly wash new discs with mild soap and water. This does appear to have lessened the errors but they still occur with about 1 in 4 or so new BD100 4k discs (I don't buy that many discs any more until the next big sale). Since the first error I'm convinced it's a logic or caching error (as opposed to a read error) but even with an update last year (probably the last they'll issue) it still happens; but other brands (even the vaunted Panasonics) seem to glitch as well so I'm not about to seek a replacement just yet. Quite perplexing and more that a little frustrating especially since the trend is for the majority of 4K discs to be triple-layer.

Its complicated. I´ve cleaned some of them and worked like a charm. Others just work the same way. I dont know whats going on. Some people told me to use hand wash soap to clean the disc because they have some kind of greasy coating when they are manufactured. Many glitches with 3 layer discs just like you have said.

I had it since April 2018 and have about 30 uhd bluray discs. 6-7 purchased discs -from 2020-2023 just dont work as they should. They glich, Dont let me to continue, hangs or freezes the player so i cant turn it off and have to force the restart by unplugging the power cord.

Also i couldnt use Dolby Vision with this player... Dont know why...

The one i was recommended as Sony X700 as a budget one...Most of the players are old... Not many players released from 2020 onwards... Newer ones are mostly Sony and Microsoft consoles, Magnetar and Panasonic DP-UB154P-K.

Other players have been released in 2017-2018 or so.

My latest 'workaround' is that these BD100s are often longer than 2 hours with the last layer change anywhere from 1:50 to 2:00, so I take a break somewhere between 1:30 to 1:40. When I do I completely stop the disc, take a bathroom break or get a snack, and then let the player resume the disc from the stop, and this has all but eliminated the glitch at the layer change.

I just got another UP970 for a different room off eBay.

I can’t remember how to get DV to work. I just have the player hooked directly to my Lg C7 (no receiver or anything weird).

A movie that should have DV is just playing in HDR.

What do I need to get to get DV?

Thanks in advance!

Edit: I updated the software, and now DV is working! Wow, forgot to mention that first disc I tired played so loudly! I sent my first UP970 into LG for being so noisy during playback, and whatever they did years ago helped.

Hopefully this one will somehow start playing more quietly.

So you basically press stop and thats it? And the video resumes without glitch? Is not the best option but it could be a "solution" Feel bad lg didnt make another solution and just droped the support for LG UP970 to basically fix few things with its replacement "UBK 90" is basically the same player, same motherboard and disc reader, but with few enhancements.

At the time ive purchased this player -April 2018- the UBK 90 was in the market but given that purchased the UP970 at 150 -that time money- thought i did a good purchase.

Yes, I hit stop and resume the disc after 2-3 min of doing whatever else during the short break. The one time it didn't work recently was during 'The Return of the King' and upon examining the disc I did find a radial smudge (at first I thought it was a scratch) that I carefully cleaned away, then retried the trouble area and it was problem-free after that. I normally clean my BD100s before playback but must've missed this somehow. So far my KL BD100s are glitch free without all this hassle. The WB BD100s seem to be the worst/most finicky (at least on my UBK80). Good luck.

Guys LG has finally dropped the bluray player business. I hope they release at least one more firmware update But is mostly unlikely.

I bought a 2nd one on eBay a few months ago. Just getting around to ask.

Is anyone else's pretty loud during playback (or when a movie is paused even)?

My first one was sent into LG for this, and they fixed it. I doubt they would be willing now with my 2nd one.

I don't know much about volume levels, but a dB app I downloaded shows about 52 dB loud.
