So I have read recently from forums and seen in YouTube videos that people are Saying older films always sound superior in their original 2.0 compared to the 5.1 remixes etc.
I have quite a few movies from the 80s like Big, Romancing The Stone, The Terminator, Commando, the old James Bond movies etc that offer the original 2.0 soundtracks but only in the USA releases and are not included on the UK releases that I own. How important is having the original 2.0 soundtracks to older films for you? Would you import titles from the USA just to have the mono soundtracks the UK often misses out on? Or do you find there is not THAT much of a difference and you’re happy enough just having the 5.1 on the UK release? It’s probably a daft question but I’m slowly growing a deeper passion for film and wanted to know, is it worth me buying old films again and importing the USA releases for the original 2.0 for supposedly superior original sound? Or are the 5.1 generally good enough for the UK releases we get? Usually my biggest deciding factor for importing was of other countries got more special features than the UK releases or if the UK releases were cut (Avengers, Aquaman, John Wick 2) etc. |
