I also lost all remaining remnants of my sanity and purchased this rare out-of-print set:

It only cost me $427 making it the single most expensive movie that I have ever purchased.

It contains the 137 minute theatrical cut of Dune (1984) on 4K UHD disc, but the real attraction for me was that it also includes the rare 177 minute TV extended version on 1080p blu-ray and the extremely rare 179 minute Spicediver cut on 720p blu-ray. I have never seen the Spicediver cut before; I thought that it was almost a thing of myth.

The set also includes a bunch of tat: a photo book, a comic book, two full size posters, and the soundtrack on CD as seen here:

Unfortunately, the comic book and the photo book are in German, so I will have to be content with looking at the pretty pictures. Also, the outer clear acrylic case pretty much fell apart upon unwrapping it requiring that I tape it back to together.

The 7 discs, though, all looked perfect and that's what matters. It's not like I can exchange this thing; I only found two copies for sale and only this one would ship to the U.S. Overall, I'm happy with it. For what I spent I will make sure of it.

I would buy some Ozu too, but am waiting for a collection.

All I bought in the sale is Three Fantastic Journeys, because of an impressive Terry Gilliam movie inspired by those movies. The digibook packaging is crappy. A foldout book.

Looks like Disney might have gotten it right with the audio on Guardians. This site gave the audio (and video) a 5 in its review.

Yeah, the price and the buyer are both

When I searched for this item I only found two copies available for sale and that didn't leave much room for haggling. I was able to get the seller to drop his price by 10% after about 10 days of negotiation. The other available copy was used and the seller would not ship to the U.S., so there just weren't many options: pay the price or do without. I am not denying myself much these days.

This site gave it a 4.5 for audio and do mention a bit of "Atmoused" sound, but sounds almost like it's nothing major:

I know that's what I say, but to really enjoy Disc you need a High End System. Those guys can afford more than a Dollar. IMO Streaming is Fantastic, with my Setup I can watch just about anything and the Quality is Marvelous!

Some people turn their noses up at a title where you have to bump up the volume a bit, which in my mind is not a deal breaker. I just watched Sisu a couple of weeks ago, and had to dig deeper with volume than some Disney titles to get the room where it should be. Doesn’t mean it didn’t sound good though.

Why can't we get those cuts in HD over here? The OG Dune is superior to the trash new movies!

It would be nice to get alternate cuts released here but your opinion is in the minority about the OG being superior. Also you mention the new movies are trash when it's extremely unlikely you've even seen Dune: Part 2.

The gray visuals and cheap stilsuits disinterested me immediately from the first one.

I have no interest in the new Super Mario Bros movie as I am not a gamer and have no connection to the original game, nor do I go out of my way to watch an animated movie…..but I am not going to call the movie trash. You were disinterested in Dune for your own reasons which is great, but there are a lot of us who loved it and can’t wait for the second one.

Now that I have paid out the nose for this set, someone will release these alternate cuts on blu-ray here and at a tiny fraction of what I just paid to get them. That's how this hobby works.

I very much enjoyed the new Dune, but I remain a big fan of the 1984 version and especially with the extra 40 minutes added in the TV extended cut. The extra material changes the movie dramatically, and for the better, in my opinion. The theatrical cut and the TV extended cut are such very different experiences.

I am really looking forward to seeing the Spicediver cut for the first time; what do those extra two minutes add to the TV extended cut?
