Even if you're not a fan of rap/hiphop it's an accessible tale of an underdog who comes from nothing and takes his shot at greatness. Is it a film trope at this point? Of course, but one that obviously we as a film going audience aren't tired of watching if it's done right. And I say that as someone who enjoyed it and isn't a big fan of a lot of rap/hip hop. I like the steel (I don't think I've seen a version of it that's bad), but the outer box is kind of meh. |
