Blu-ray Knight

![]() ![]() Kind of shocked there's no thread for this already. There's a Steelbook thread for the UK edition and an old BD thread but no 4K UHD thread. Unfortunately, I start the thread with bad news. Digital isn't the disc, but the first movie was on sale on VUDU last week and they have the 4K digital up, and even at a quick glance I saw some problems. To be fair, I'll say first that I watched the digital 4K of Paramount's It's a Wonderful Life, and the grain is actually so fine it simply didn't show up on the digital, whereas I could see it on the disc. That said, I looked at the beginning of the digital Naked Gun and saw frozen grain patterns in the smoky opening scene in Beirut, and worse, a bizarre ghosting issue throughout the shot of Frank deboarding ("no flowers, thank you") and giving the speech into the microphone. Detail was sometimes great (a bit of the hospital scene with Nordberg looked good) and colors were fine, but Paramount is so all over the map with these 4K upgrades that I can't help but feel like people should be warned to but their expectations in check, if they don't already know. (And someone else may feel like watching the whole film on digital 4K to get an even better impression, I was just glancing at it.) |
