She needs to go to an eye doctor! seriously! There hasnt been one girl out there that havent seen a bluray movie playing on my 1080P TV and not got WOW!!!! My wife, my buddy's wife, and even my 52 yr old mother's jaws dropped....How could she say that ""I honestly can't tell the difference between Blu-Ray and DVD"
Well, one, I have a 1080i TV for the moment. Want a 1080p TV, brought that up to her, which is what prompted the "I can't tell the difference, we don't need a new TV" comment.

Would having everything set at 720p make an impact? Could it be that upscaling DVDs to 720p and then playing Blu-Rays at 720p also causes this lack of noticeability?

I'm stuck in the circular point of:
Having a 1080p TV would show the difference, but
Can't get a 1080p TV because she can't tell the difference, but
If we had a 1080p TV, I could show her the difference, but
She doesn't think there is a difference, so no 1080p TV. Plus, the 27" is "big enough"

I'm saving up enough to both buy a 1080p TV (a 40" or something so that it isn't "too big" for her tastes) and to afford another place to sleep should the revealing of the new TV not go well......
