Maybe you or someone else can help me out. I have posted the chart below two or three times in this thread and thought I had explained the terms used. Apparently some do not get it so what do I need to do to make it more clear?

I would have thought the video and audio data rates were self explanatory, Bandwidth is between the end user (me) and the CDN. As can be seen the Bandwidth in most cases is several times that of the A/V data rates so it is not the limiting factor. A speed test between me and the ISP was > 270 Mbps and I should have included that data.

I have my laserdisc/DVD combo player connected to my AVR, but it rarely gets used as I have made back-ups of the laserdiscs that still interest me.

My player is a little moody when it switches to side B; it will always skip a second or two about 1 minute into playback and then it is fine. There's an internal adjustment that can be fiddled with to fix this, but it requires more effort than I am willing to expend. I can no longer safely lift the player, either.

I am still sitting on about 50 laserdiscs with my Denon player still functioning but not hooked up. One of the discs is an unopened AC-3 Die Hard that I never got around to opening. Part of the LD stage which I remember the most was trying to time new releases at the video stores to grab the one copy they sometimes got in. Reminds me of guys trying to find allocated bourbon nowadays.

I'm not even sure of how many LDs I have left, but I've long since jettisoned the players that I had to the aforementioned charity shop.

I remember having to Macguyver one of my early players with parts from RadioShack in order to access the DD soundtracks and sticking with PIONEER receivers for some time in order to ensure compatibility...

Even if I'd kept my later model dual read player, I don't think any of my last 5 or 6 receivers have had the required RF input.

I made a comment over in the "What's On Your Mind" thread that I will link to here; it's off topic and even though I used emoji's I was not joking.

My wife and I have had to visit the E/R in Florida twice (once each).. Her for a simple allergic reaction..me for N1H1.

In both cases, we could see how ridiculous the whole system was in every aspect once they find out that you're fully insured ... especially drugs. I remember seeing all the individual invoices that my insurer paid out. One for the doctor, one for each nurse and one from the little boy who lived down the lane.

I'm pretty sure I remember them paying thousands of dollars for tylenol and benedryll...

As is customary I have placed an update on my situation behind spoilers for those who are interested. It's almost Dynamo of Eternia length just so you know.

[Show spoiler]I have another diagnosis as a result of a skin biopsy performed on my left leg and thigh. It has been determined that I have Small Fiber Neuropathy and amyloid deposits were found in the Dermis layers of the skin. My new diagnosis is Hereditary Transthyretin-mediated Amyloidosis Peripheral Neuropathy (hATTR-PN) in addition to my earlier diagnosis of hATTR-CM (cardiomyopathy).

My having Small Fiber Neuropathy means that the density of small nerves in my body is too low. I have only one-third to one-half as many small fiber nerves in a given area as I should due to these amyloid deposits. The amyloid presence damages these small fiber nerves. This explains why I have random and varied sensations in my hands, forearms, feet, and calves typically in the form of moderate to severe pain, spasms, tingling, cramps, and numbness.

This new diagnosis will not change my primary treatment, it is just further proof that my disease is late stage and that my full nervous system is compromised. The focus of my treatment remains on my heart. hATTR-CM is a multisystemic and fatal disease. The main plan remains to monitor my decline until I am sick enough to be placed on the heart transplant list.

I return to St. Louis tomorrow for another 4 hour long infusion treatment with the drug Patisiran. Just a refresher: Patisiran is a gene silencer that interferes with the production of the protein transthyretin (TTR). Due to a genetic fault, my TTR is unstable and reforms into amyloid fibrils. These amyloid fibrils are deposited throughout my body doing their deadliest damage to my heart.

On the 21st I begin the first of three procedures to address the severe pain in the lumbar region of my spine. This is purely a quality of life concern. I am having a Lumbar Medial Back Block (LMBB) done.

In a LMBB, the doctor will use fluoroscopy to guide a needle into the most painful part of my lumbar spine: the L5-S1 vertebrae pair in my case. When the needle is in place a pain killer will be injected to see if it relieves the worst of my pain. The relief only lasts a few hours if it happens at all. The procedure aims to pinpoint the precise location of the worst of my pain.

If successful, another LMBB will be done about two to three weeks later to confirm the results.

If the second LMBB is successful, then in another two to three weeks I will undergo a Radio Frequency Neuroablation. This time the needle will return to the confirmed source of my pain and the nerves responsible will be destroyed by sending radio frequencies via the needle which in turn kills the nerve from the resulting heat. This is supposed to provide pain relief for a few months to a year until the nerves regenerate. If very lucky, the nerves won't regenerate at all and the pain does not return.

None of this does anything about the underlying causes of the pain; it simply kills the nerve that transmits the pain to the brain. It would require risky surgical intervention to attempt to address the causes and my doctor recommends this approach instead.

I have 11 doctors now. I never foresaw a time where this would happen. They put me through a lot.

Wish I could remember what year I moded my Pioneer CLD-900 LD/CD player to output RF. I did purchase the Sony EP9ES AC-3 decoder right after it was released. Available in black and champagne, I had the black version. Discrete 5.1 sound, exciting times.

I have the Pioneer DVL 909 combo laserdisc/ DVD player. It still works fine except for the one quirk that I mentioned earlier.

Thank you.

[Show spoiler]With a rare diagnosis you have to educate yourself so that you can educate the emergency room staff and other healthcare providers who have never heard of your disease, or, if they have heard of it, they usually know very little about it. It's why I wear a medical alert bracelet.

I have to travel about 100 miles each way for treatment; local doctors can't do much of anything for me. I have explained my situation so many times now that it has become reflexive.

I had just bought my first house with my ex, so it would have been sometime in the mid 90's for me. It cost less than $10 worth of parts including breadboard and I got it working with one try (rare for me).

I remember when all the little yellow dot lights (and one red for LFE) lit up on the PIONEER amp signifying that it was receiving a Dolby Digital 5.1 signal.. I kept screaming IT'S ALIVE! IT"S ALIVE!!like Dr Franenstein...

Man, nostalgia is a hell of a drug...
