The UK version is completely region free blu rays and the DVD special features.
It's WB, so the Blu-rays are region free.

Can only make it to Fellowship of the Ring due to my work schedule but if I had to pick only one to see, that would be it for sure

I think it's very good to go back in theaters and see if the extended remastered trilogy is faithful to our 4K Blu-rays.

I went last year in the UK.

All 3 (EE) on the same day - 13 hours at the cinema.

It was glorious.

A few questions:

1. Are these the same extended cuts from the Blu-rays/4Ks released a few years ago?
2. Has anyone done matched the Atmos mixes to the old unwaxed Blu-ray transfers yet?
3. Considering there were some changes before the LOTR films ever hit video, are there any scans floating anywhere?

Here’s a question: Who isn’t bothered that much by the grade on the 2011 Blu-rays?

Two Towers and Return of the King are fine but I still say that Fellowship’s green tint was a mistake that they just didn’t want to own up to lol

I personally kind of like it, but I don’t think that there’s one opinion that everyone should bow in worship to. So I’m not going to argue.

If the remastered Fellowship blu-ray was available on it's own, I'd probably get it. But not bothered enough to rebuy the whole trilogy. I can live with it, and the other two are fine.

Just an FYI about LOTR, the PQ is atrocious on all three films. DNR was turned up to 11, and it shows. Even in the 2x1 caps on my phone, it looks terrible, and it looks worse on a big screen in motion.

Ironically though, the Atmos tracks are legendary, especially TROTK, which is one of the greatest Atmos/DTS:X tracks I've ever heard.

So horrible picture and great sound, which one do you judge by?

Either way, hold on to your old tapes/DVDs/Blus for the special features.

Are you talking about the 4Ks, the 2011 Blu-rays, or the remastered Blus from 2020?

im assuming remastered because they have atmos and the old does not and way they have way less DNR.

The “problem” isn’t even that noticeable. There’s a faint teal-ish hue, but it’s not a blanket coloring by any means. People seem to exaggerate it beyond all reasoning. From what you hear, it would seem that they look like this:

Err… it IS though, and that’s why it’s such a subject of discussion. If it was supposed to look like that, then why aren’t the scenes from the first movie that are shown in the others color-graded like it.

It’s fine if you don’t mind the green tint, but something definitely went wrong there.

Sorry, I should clarify. I meant that it’s more of a teal-orange grade (I can definitely see places where there are warmer highlights) that just someone pulling on the Tint slider in After Effects.

I think doing it was supposed to be a quick fix to the issues with the theatrical Blu-ray, which was described this way: “The Blu-ray image is awash with overcooked colors, oversaturated skintones, and murky nighttime sequences.” Adding a teal-orange grade was a way of uncooking the colors and desaturating the skintones.
