I'm trying to do this ... I sort of understand ... I've made a Sharks catagory and put movies in it. Seems DVD and Blu Ray each need a Sharks catagory.

I will try to figure this out. In the mean time I have to go check for shark movies that aren't shown in my collection and I ordered 10 shark movies today just to get a little more caught up.

It was those so-called low profit margin items, physical media, that got me to visit Best Buy stores. While there, I would also look at those higher profit margin items, such as new TVs, and maybe the seed of an idea to upgrade something in my home theater would get planted.

Now, I have almost no reason to visit their stores at all. There's no chance of my being "wowed" by some new gadget after I am done browsing their former movie section. For me, physical media was what got me in their store making larger purchases at least a possibility. Now, nothing draws me there making Best Buy "out of sight, out of mind" when it comes to places to shop.

Walmart caters to more of a casual, older and I mean this with all respect, a lower class/less well to do consumer. A lot of people in those demographics will still be buying DVDs and may not have the latest and greatest technology. It makes sense why physical media would still be doing well at Walmart.

Meanwhile, Best Buy is always trying to push the latest and greatest and for them, physical media isn't it.

Best Buy doesn't seem to know what kind of store they want to be anymore.

Whatever they are trying to be, they have nothing left that creates foot traffic. Just how often does my smartphone need accessories?

When I have visited, their stores are a ghost town. Employees outnumber customers ...and they mostly just stand around talking to each other or are playing with their phones; they're more bored than are the few customers.

The issue with any major retailer is that they are expected to post higher profits every quarter. It's an unsustainable goal but they have to try to gain sales with items that may not have been part of their original core products.

Tubi has almost all of the shark movies.

I think between Tubi and Pluto you can get most of them.

Now I have to chose because I want to watch either Noah's Shark or Cocaine Shark

With Best Buy, it just seems like they are trying to sell everything, but doing none of it very well. They are not the "go-to" store for anything now, or so they seem to me.

The same may be said about Target but they are pretty much out of the disc business in store, still have online. From my observation of traveling across the US, Walmarts that are located in lower income areas do not have much in the way of movie disc while other stores in higher income areas can have a very large display of movies. I have saw large selection of movies there in small towns as well. The very first new display that I saw was at Waynesville NC (small mountain town).

Agree. Never was for me, always been a mail order type starting with LD in late 84.

So sorry this is happening to you, my friend. It doesn't help that the bully brigade (they know who they are) are the ones who started that homophobe crap and then the sock ran with it. Of course you won't see them apologizing for it anytime soon. In fact, it wouldn't surprise me if one of their crew was the sock.

I still have access to Netflux, so maybe I will try it out first over there? Maybe a disc version will yet come to be, but I feel time is of the essence.
I watched Godzilla Minus One about a month ago and absolutely loved it. Takes Godzilla back to his roots of being a scary monster and way better than Godzilla X Kong (although that one was silly fun)

Best Buy checking out of the physical media game is bittersweet to me. The first DVDs I ever purchased came from there, back when they had a pretty sizable horror section and carried titles from a lot of the boutique labels that existed at the time.

Since Best Buy gave up on physical media, it seems like my local Walmart has expanded their movie section just a little bit. They've even added a section just for 4K steelbooks. Not to mention they also now have a nice selection of vinyl records.

The irony being my beloved nephew was attacked and nearly lost his life in a homophobic assault last year. I’m sure you can understand how I felt, and then that idiot sock account joined in. This is the worst I have ever known the forums, it seems half the members are out for trouble or at least to cause upset.

Don’t get me wrong, I speak my mind and have plenty of back and forth in relation to transfers, audio mixes and general film discussion, but I would never swoop to such low levels as to set out to destroy someone’s character with baseless lies and accusations.

Got my copy of Once Upon a Time in the West 4K disc arrived. Might watch that one today. Ordered High Noon 4K and Bad Lieutenant 4K disc from Amazon. Looks like they're matching Kino's half off sale on 4Ks.

A detailed update on what's next for me, behind spoilers as usual:

[Show spoiler]Tomorrow I return to Barnes Hospital in St. Louis for an all day screening appointment to see if I can participate in a new drug trial. The drug is called ALXN2220 and is the subject of study in the DepleTTR-CM trial. "TTR" stands for transthyretin, a normally occurring protein that in my disease is misfolding, due to a genetic mutation, into harmful amyloid fibrils. These amyloid fibrils deposit into the heart, and into several others areas of the body, damaging the function of whatever organs and systems that they infiltrate. My disease is Hereditary Transthyretin-mediated Amyloidosis Cardiomyopathy (hATTR-CM). I have the Peripheral Neuropathy version as well (hATTR-PN).

This drug is an "anti-body" treatment that aims to remove some of the damaging amyloid deposits in the heart. It is hoped that removing the amyloid deposits from the heart will allow the heart to recover to at least some extent. If I make it into this trial, I will be getting an intravenous infusion every four weeks. Also, one-third of the drug trial participants will get a placebo instead of the actual drug. This new drug trial would be in addition to the other one that I am in (Patisiran) that occurs every three weeks.

The screening will require that I do a six minute walking test to see how far I can walk in that amount of time and what impact doing so will have on my vital signs. There will be hours of additional testing done tomorrow to see if I qualify for this new drug trial. Until now, there have been no treatments that directly target the amyloid deposits in the heart.

Thursday, I will be at Barnes Hospital again for a Cardio Pulmonary Exercise Test (CPET), more commonly known as a cardiac stress test. This test is the current hurdle in determining if I can be placed onto the heart transplant list.

My last CPET was about six months ago and I scored a 22.05 on the VO2 ml/kg/min measurement. A normal result for my age would have been 35-40. For the transplant list, the score needs to have dropped to 14 or lower. In short, the test is to see if I am sick enough yet to make the list.

On my previous test I only lasted 9 minutes and 38 seconds before it was stopped. I want to make it least a full 10 minutes this time around even though that would probably be a purely symbolic achievement.

After this test I will then see my transplant cardiologist to discuss where things stand.

Wednesday and Thursday will make for two long days, but that's just the beginning of a very busy month. I already have appointments on the 13th, 14th, 18th, 19th, and 21st; all but one of these dates involve traveling to St. Louis, a 200+ mile round trip each time. It's really VERY exhausting.

If anyone is interested I have linked to a youtube video that shows very clearly what my disease looks like compared to a normal heart. You only need to watch about 10 minutes of it beginning at the 18' 50" mark until the 29'53" mark. The Hereditary version of my disease is also called "variant", which the doctor in this video prefers to call it.

If I learn anything new from these two days of testing I will post again- once I have recuperated. Thank you for reading and, more importantly, for caring.

Does anyone know if there’s a thread here related to getting rid of older editions of discs we own (Like whether an older release has exclusive extras, best place to trade in, etc)? Sorry to post that here but I can’t seem to find a discussion on this topic.

I can only echo what Wendell said, as you know, we are all wishing for the best outcome.

Thank you for your support over the weekend by the way, much appreciated.
