1) There are people who find the financial aspects of movie-making to be genuinely fascinating. It's fun to speculate about budgets, talk about opening weekends, predict drops from week to week, compare total earnings and calculate profits.

2) Like John1701D, if you're a fan of a movie/franchise and you want more of it, it's essential for that movie/franchise to be successful, and so it makes sense for you to be aware of its performance and be happy when you get more of what you like.

3) Bragging rights on the internet against opposing fandoms and detractors .
