Preordered it today as soon as I saw it. I don't own a region free blu ray player.....but I'm going to buy one just for this set. Well actually, I missed out on the big Dawn of the Dead set because I thought eventually it would come out in the US. It didn't, and now it goes for three times as much on ebay. Not making the same mistake again.

That was a legit thing - my friend who I went with left toward the climax and came back with a soda which I thought was strange with only like 15 minutes left.

This looks really interesting but I'm here in the states; and it's a regular Blu-ray. Not interested in a multi region player, but I hope one day this will get a U.S. release. If this was put onto UHD Blu-ray; the resolution won't be much better but the reproduction of dark areas will.

Straight from the Hi8 tapes makes this release really interesting.

I somehow thought this would be in 4K, but might still upgrade my DVD with the normal release.

Big fan of this.

This is guaranteed to sell out and much quicker than SS's Lake Mungo

All that effort and the new documentary means I'll order it today.

LE at Rarewaves £40.84 https://www.rarewaves.com/products/5...imited-edition
Vanilla £19.10 https://www.rarewaves.com/products/5...-witch-project

....for non-HMV users.

They shot it mostly on video in 1997. On video. In 1997. If you think there's some brilliant dynamic range there to expand in HDR and better reproduce the dark areas of the image then you're just as wrong as the creators of Blair Witch 2016 thinking they were making a good movie

For the 16mm bits, yes there may be extra that 4K could pull out. No extra dynamic range will be in the tapes that Blu-ray can’t handle.

I would love to get this set if it wasn't Region B.

There's multiple ways to play region B discs without breaking the bank. Grab a cheap Panasonic player under $20 and use the top-menu trick for starters! Or if you got a PS3 laying around, hack it and set to region B. I did the latter and haven't looked back.

The festival version is the longer version they submitted to festivals and that was screened in Sundance before the film was acquired by Artisan Entertainment.
IIRC the festival cut is shorter. The long rumored longer cut is unfortunately not present here. The directors have spoken a few times about re-cutting it but seems that wasn't meant to be. They did transfer all the footage so it could be done in theory but it'd be such an undertaking all things considered.

Insanity.

As a physical media collector, the first thing I did when learning movies were region coded was buy a region free player. I don't use it very often, but I love having the option. I'd say 35-40% of my collection are imports locked to a different region.

How fast was Lake Mungo? I was clued into Second Sight when The Witch dropped...and that sold out fairly fast. So did TCM even though that kept going in & out of stock for a while.

Hells yes, ordered the LE set with the quickness. I'll just have to extend my Shocktoberfest Horrors month all the way to Thanksgiving this year....

So the only difference between the regular release and the box is the book, the journal and the cards? Because that's a big price difference if that's all that's different.

I don't recall I just remember people posting asking why it wasn't available. I believe it was region-free also which made it even more attractive.

The Blair Witch LE will sell out quick as it has world-wide appeal to all sorts of buyers. Let's see how it compares to The Hitcher LE

I've ordered it today.

I stand corrected. I remember hearing over the years that the cut that was screened in Sundance was almost 2 hours long so I assumed this would be it
