Im one of those kind of guys who likes to plan out big purchases, and im kind of torn on what direction to go on a TV. I would like to get a few Ideas in my price range for the best bang for my buck (while also going well with my other components).
Im going to be going from my Onkyo 605 to a 607, and my Panny BD-30 to an Oppo BDP-83 most likely. Im pretty inflexible on the the Onkyo, but im still iffy on if the Oppo is the way I want to go. If you feel like chiming in on that feel free, just dont bother with the Onkyo, I wont change my mind on that. I've loved my 605, and only want the 607 because of the updated codecs to the PLIIz and increase in the number of HDMI ports. As far as TV's are concerned, im a bit worried because I am leaning towards the Panasonic TC-P54V10, but have heard that it has handshaking issues with the Onkyo, and Plasma has just always made me weary due to life cycle issues and brighter rooms (my room isn't too bright, but you never know till you get it home..). I also know that a lot of these newer Plasmas do not have the "same old issues" anymore, or not as much as they used to. I was curious what some of the more knowledgeable folks would do if they were working with my set up, and were going to upgrade their dinosaur 1080i set would do. Im looking for a 52-54" set, that can do 24p properly while staying in the $2,000 to $3,000 range. I also cant do a wall mount for where I want it, if that matters. I know the V10 is a really great set, and Im just looking for a bit of a heads up if there is something I haven't read about on this site, so I can do my research before I make my final decision. I've read about a lot of the LCD's and DLPs and Plasmas on here and I am just trying to figure out what would be best for my size/price/other components. Its just hard to get it narrowed down to the best choices, so I can go out and see one of these in person before I make my final choice. Thanks in advance. |
