I remember the Unrated version craze of the early 2000s, but every studio was doing it, even Disney. Then it was the extended cuts craze and then the directors cut craze. It got so out of hand everyone expected new cuts, even today.

It’s a homage to Mad Max and Escape from New York. Heck, two characters are named Miller and Carpenter in it. It’s not designed to break new ground but just a fun flick in the same genre.
