YESSS, finally! Very excited for the contents of this set, as revealed by Thomas J. Watson on Facebook:

Quote:
At long last … Lucy! I am delighted to announce that Paramount Home Entertainment will release “I LOVE LUCY: THE COMPLETE SERIES on Blu-ray” on November 5th, 2024.

This exciting new package is a bit of a mixed-bag: included are seasons 1 and 2 – exactly as Jonathan Angus and I produced them for CBS a decade ago—plus the last seven seasons (seasons 3-6 of the half-hour series and the three seasons of hour-long Lucy-Desi specials).

Jonathan (our restoration editor and video master-craftsman) and I – and a team of Lucy fans and film collectors – pooled our talents and collections this past summer to come up with what we consider to be “the ultimate” Lucy Blu-ray release.

*** Joining the regular black-and-white shows this time is the newly colorized/never before released “Lucy and the Loving Cup” episode from 1957. ***

Also on board are three never-before-released-on-video “flashback” scenes (originally prepared by Desilu to lead into prime-time network repeats) and Lucille Ball and Vivian Vance’s appearance in the CBS fall preview special “Eye on CBS,” promoting the network’s 1959 fall schedule.

Last but not least, the 13 Lucy-Desi specials are being presented here substantially AS ORIGINALLY BROADCAST, with original Ford and Westinghouse opening and closing graphics, original cast commercials, and missing scenes that had been edited out over the years for reruns. Watching these shows, it feels like the late 1950s all over again!!!

(Before you ask: Most of the seasons 3-6 half-hour shows will have the standard heart-on-satin openings and closings – but not the original broadcast versions. And yes, many of the special features found on the DVD releases have been retained here – but in higher resolution, of course! For example, the “I Love Lucy” pilot has been remastered from the original 35mm kinescope!)

It’s a beautiful set honoring one of TV’s all-time-favorite series!

Special thanks to Angelo Dante, Larry Pane, Stu Shostak and Dan Wingate for helping to make this release possible!

I wish we would stop with the massive sets and instead go back to individual season cases, but I’d be lying if it stopped me from buying to day 1!

Artwork could better, and I'd also prefer individual cases... but I think everybody's moving away from that now. I don't mind a big case, hopefully it's not a jumbo DVD case. But as long as NOTHING IS STACKED then I'm good.

I can't wait, especially since the last time I checked, only certain episodes were available on streaming. Maybe they've fixed that, but you never know what they'll pull back down.

The coverart could have been so much better.
They should have used a cast photo in smaller fashion against a large photo of Lucy. But, it is what it is. I'm happy we're getting this classic and historical series on BD. Looking forward to the original broadcast versions of Lucy-Desi. I think we're in for a treat.

I'm so glad I didn't buy the DVD set. And next year, we're getting Bewitched, too. Awesome news!

Question the season 2 blu ray had the I love Lucy movie included as an extra. Will that also be included in this new set?

Historical show and it's good to see they are properly archiving the entire show. The dvd sets are already great but also take up a lot of space for the individual season sets.

I haven't even finished watching my DVD sets yet.

I probably won't purchase this right away, if ever (I picked up season 1 Blu set on discount from Big Lots), but I welcome all news of truly CLASSIC TV shows being released on Blu-ray!

I LOVE LUCY is one of those shows that I got to often. I'm a huge Lucy fan and it's probably the one series that I return to most often to watch favorites and then do complete runs every so often. Definitely a day 1 purchase for me.

Hahaha of course this is announced a month after I binged the show on dvd. However at $99 I’ll definitely pick this up for when the mood strikes again.

Crazy that the show series has the same MSRP as the individual seasons 1 and 2 at release.

I remember that when they first came out. I waited a while and then got them when they were under 30 bucks. So of course, this is definitely double-dipping on the first 2 seasons but I can't resist having the entire series on BD especially with the new updates.

I think the lower MSRP is due to the fact that they have cut out the “bells and whistles” for seasons 2-3 as it pertains to Original Broadcast with Commercials, etc. The first 2 seasons required a lot of overhead from the production due to the extra work that is needed to get these ready.

Wait the original sets had commercials?
