Default MrFattBill's Garage Theater

Made some changes to the system. Replaced the front sound stage including the sub. I had a Sony speaker set up with a Yamaha HTiB sub They sounded fine but it was time for a change.

New setup
Definitive Tech Mythos Eight - Center
Definitive Tech Mythos One's - Front L & R
Martin Logan Dynamo Sub (Yes out of the gold box/lightning deal a few weeks back)

https://www.blu-ray.com/community/ga...&folderid=2814

ALL speakers have been balanced with an SPL meter as well. Time to take a break for a while....it's almost baby time

Finally got around to hanging the TV and cleaned up the spaghetti mess of wires that weren't really doing anything Moved the center channel down below the TV, added 2 more speakers to complete the 7.1 and I also added another set of Dioder lights.

Updated pics in gallery.

Very clean looking. Nice job with it. My only comment is the towers on those stands. Have you played around with different heights to get to that height? I would think you want the tweeters to be at ear level. I would guess they are above ear level and if they were closer to the floor, the center and tower tweeters may be closer so you may have a more even front sound stage.

The speakers were originally higher up on those "stands" due to the second shelf being used for components. Since moving some things to the basement I just removed the tops and put the speakers on the lower sections. Based on Lou's and Beta's suggestions I will move them to the floor and see how I like them.

As far a future speaker upgrades go I am leaning towards Definitive Tech, I just need to find a local place to test drive the Mytho's One.

Sounds good! Can't wait to hear your thoughts on the moving of the speakers. Make sure you play around with toe-in and also calibrate with an SPL if you have one. It really does make a difference.

I'd place them on the floor. The Dt mythos ones sound great as I just recently tested out dt speakers.

Very Nice,New Additions .

I Love Def Tech Speakers and it looks like you chose some Awesome Mythos Front Soundstage Speakers. Those combined with the Velodyne Sub shoud provide a tremendous Upgrade.

I love the slim look of the towers but Def Tech using Passive Radiators for added Bass looks Amazing.

Congratulations on all the new additions to your Home Theater.

Well it looks like you got the DefTechs MrFattBill. I love the way they look, and how is the sound now with the fronts on the floor? You have a nice set-up of what we can see. You should add pics of the entire room, especially your surrounds, as that appears to be a really nice room for an HT. Nice job with the updates and the room!

Finally, pictures of the Mythos!
How do they sound compared to your old SONY speakers?
How do they sound with the Martin Logan Dynamo sub?
Panasonic & Def Tech, good combo!
VERY NICE!

Thanks for the comments guys

The new speakers offer a much better sound stage than the old ones did, not that they were terrible but....you know. The rest of the speakers are kind of sub-par compared to the fronts. I am still using the Sony bookshelf speakers for the surround l/r and some small Yamaha's for the surround backs. You can see the Sony's in the couch picture under my "Original setup" gallery. The Yamaha's are on that white sofa table now.

The area itself is rather large as it opens to both the kitchen in the back and the dining room on the back left. I have 1500sqft of unfinished space in the basement where a theater will eventually be, I already have it all mapped out just need to be patient and save.

I would love some DT surrounds but they will have to wait for now.

Pitbullmike has/or had 3 bipolar dt surrounds for sale. I want them myself for surrounds in my bedroom (to complete dt speaker setup in bedroom..except for the sub) but I have higher wishlist items to get for the ht. It's his birthday today so if you message him...give him a bday greeting.
