I asked this in A Quiet Place Day One Blu Ray and 4K threads. I going to ask this here since no one's responded..
I have a problem. My copy of A Quiet Place Day One just came in this afternoon ( the standard Blu Ray release) from Amazon. I always do a check and when I try to play it in my BD drive, it starts to load and then crashed and my Power DVD 12 brought up an error type message and asking to submit the report to Cyberlink.. The error says Minidump.dmp and CrashRpt.xml. I tried a second time and this time it loaded but when the Paramount logo started to run. It froze and then crashed with the same error message and request to submit to Cyberlink. I tried playing other disks on my BD drive and they are all loading and playing fine including recent Paramount titles like TMNT Mutant Mayhem, Mission Impossible Dead Reckoning, and a disk from Star Trek Discovery Season 5.Everything loads and plays fine as well as other titles. I've just been watching my The Gate BD (the steelbook release) the last few days with no problems. I put in my Killer Klowns BD from the recent Scream factory 4K releass and no problems at all. It's just this one disk that arrived today. I tried it on my T.V with my Blu Ray player (a Sony 3D player) and the A Quite Place Day One played okay on that. I restarted my computer and tried my Howling II Blu Ray from Vinegar Syndrome that came in about two weeks ago. It loaded and played fine then and loaded and played fine now. I tried the A Quite Place Day One BD yet again in the BD drive. It crashed again with the same error. Tried it on the T.V. once more and it played there. Tried it in the BD drive one more time. This time it loaded and played but no audio. No sound over the Paramount logo.I loaded the film up and it started but again, no sound at all and when I tried to skip to another scene, it crashed again with the same error. Could I have a bad disk? It plays on the standalone player at the T.V. but is having these issues in the BD drive at the computer. The BD drive has always been more sensitive then the standalone player. I've had an occasional disk that had a scratch that you could barely see or not see at all and it will play on the standalone player but freeze up in the BD drive. I can't see any scratches on this disk but I don't have the best eye sight due to vision issues to begin with so if it's not noticeable, I won't be able to see it. Again, every other disk I'm testing is playing perfectly fine in my BD drive including other Paramount titles. Should I just do an exchange with Amazon and get another copy to try? ETA I'm not sure which forum this would be best posted in. Also, just tried my Dune Part 2 disk in my BD drive and it also had no issues playing making me think the problem is the A Quite Place Day One disk. That it's defective or has damage I can't see with my naked eye but because my drive is more sensitive then the standalone player. The drive is picking up the issue preventing it from running while the Blu Ray player can play the disk. Last edited by Comicfan; 10-09-2024 at 04:46 AM. |
