Reservoir Dogs 4K UHD (1992)

The ear removal, via a now-you-see-it-now-you-don't clear slipcover, is kinda clever. However, the classic five-dudes-strolling silhouette in dripping blood, and the redundant restatement of the title is simply ugly as hell and wreaks the gag. A barf-bag, post-amputation anatomy drawing, a la what you see in the flick, would've been better.

The artist musta been hit in the head by a case of old To Live and Die in L.A. posters & the resulting brain damage won't allow him to draft anything that wasn't inspired by its blood-drop palm tree.

The interior image, if you subtract the unnecessary inclusion of that pair of Ray Bans, is quite nice, though. It's graphically strong and speaks to the film's primary themes, as opposed to simply its B-movie, exploitation aspects. It should be the cover instead of the gross-out gimmick.

Looks more like they had a batch of misprints for the original, where the toner ran low on the other colors. Rather than toss 'em, some intern realized "oh, yeah! Mr. Pink extra-limited edition, here we come!" LOL

I was never fond of the ear-gag on the slip anyway, but this just smacks of a mistake-turned-bonus moment.

I emailed Lionsgate and asked if the audio has been corrected. They said no, so it's the same disc.

For the members who have PMd me asking about coverage of this release, there actually won't be any, as completely hilariously Lionsgate sent me a remainder Best Buy SteelBook instead of the "Mr. Pink" cover (which ties in perfectly with my running jokes about remainders in Lionsgate's 4K releases).

Okay.. so I have the US 4K disc.. and I plan to get the Spain BD/DVD disc at some point. That one's loaded with extras though they're on a PAL DVD.

What's the best BD available to get all the extras possible?

Edit: Also. Is the US UHD alright or should I get another better UHD out there?

I would recommend the 10th Anniversary DVD for the most comprehensive set of extras. They are easy to find and cheap at most resale shops.

The German one from the Studio Canal has the best PQ, the Lionsgate disc is filtered. That said, most people won’t even notice unless you pixel peep
