Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if the powers that be just don't think they would see a decent enough return on Space Precinct so decided to go the AI route to make it cost effective, and also test the waters for future AI releases if this one goes down well enough?

I've got the old Image R1 DVD set, which annoyingly includes ad bumpers at the start and finish of each act. Picture quality wasn't great either. What I've seen of this remaster in promos looked pretty good for an upscale, but the proof of course will be in the final pudding.
