Default List of UHDs with Modified or Plastered Studio Logos

This is a list of worldwide UHD discs that contain modified/plastered studio logos for theatrical movies released before the 4K UHD format was introduced in 2016. It will contain UHD discs that are bundled with standard BD discs that are also affected by these logo alterations. Feel free to post suggestions below!

1971

Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory - The original Paramount Pictures logo has been restored to the beginning of the film, but it unfortunately still retains a plastered Warner Bros. logo at the end.

1973

American Graffiti - The 1963-1990 Universal Pictures logo uses the MCA byline on the 1978 re-issue and all home media releases instead of “A Universal Picture” from its original 1973 theatrical mono release.

The Exorcist - The original Saul Bass Warner Bros. logo is plastered with the silver variant from the movie Flags of our Fathers. The logo at the end was removed as well.

1977

Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope - The 1953-1981 20th Century Fox logo is plastered with the 1994-2010 logo, and the 2015-current Lucasfilm logo is used instead of the 1973-1997 logo.

1978

The Last Waltz

1979

TBD.

1980

Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back - Same as A New Hope.

Raging Bull

The Shining - The 1973-1984 Warner Bros. Pictures logo is plastered with the 1984-1998 logo.

1981

TBD.

1982

Blade Runner: The Final Cut - The Ladd Company logo has been digitally recreated from scratch.

1983

Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi - Same as A New Hope.

1984

The NeverEnding Story - The Warner Bros. Pictures logo has been plastered with the modern Imprint and Constantin Films logos. There are no closing logos at the end as well.

1985

The Goonies - The 1973-198? “Distributed by Warner Bros.” Logo has been plastered with a black background version of the shield logo, with a URL byline underneath.

The Color Purple - Same as The Goonies, except the 1984-1998 logo has been duplicated at the end instead.

1986

TBD.

1987

Spaceballs

The Princess Bride

No Way Out - The Orion Pictures logo is missing.

1988

Willow - The 1988-1996 Lucasfilm Ltd. logo is plastered with the 2015-current logo.

1989

The Little Mermaid - The 1985-2006 Walt Disney Pictures logo is plastered with the 2006-2022 logo.

Leviathan - The MGM logo is missing.

1990

Misery

Beauty and the Beast - Same as The Little Mermaid.

Point Break - The 1981-1994 20th Century Fox logo is missing.

1992

Aladdin - Same as The Little Mermaid.

Candyman - The 1997-2012 Universal Pictures logo is used instead of the 1984-1993 TriStar Pictures logo.

1993

The Nightmare Before Christmas - The 1985-2003 Touchstone Pictures logo is plastered with the 2006-2022 Walt Disney Pictures logo. The “Touchstone Pictures Presents” in-credit has also been replaced by “Walt Disney Pictures Presents” at the start of the movie.

1994

The Shawshank Redemption - The 1993-current Columbia Pictures logo is plastered with the 1998-2021 Warner Bros. Pictures logo.

The Lion King - Same as The Little Mermaid.

1995

Heat - The 1984-1998 Warner Bros. Pictures logo is missing.

Toy Story - The 1995-2007 Walt Disney Pictures logo is plastered with the 2006-2022 logo, and the 1995-2007 Pixar Animation Studios logo has also been plastered with the reanimated variant from 2008-2019.

1996

TBD.

1997

The Lost World: Jurassic Park - The small “©️ 1997 Universal City Studios, Inc.” stamp on the bottom right corner of the 1997-2012 Universal Pictures logo has been removed.

1998

The Big Lebowski - The Polygram Filmed Entertainment/Gramercy Pictures/USA Films logos have been plastered by the 1997-2012 Universal Pictures logo.

1999

Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace - The 1994-2010 20th Century Fox logo is missing the News Corporation byline, and the 1997-2015 Lucasfilm Ltd. has been plastered with the 2015-current logo.

Toy Story 2 - Same as Toy Story.

2000

Pitch Black - Same as The Big Lebowski.

Erin Brockovich - The 1997-2012 Universal Pictures logo is zoomed-in and it’s missing the URL byline. (US disc confirmed. IDK if the international Sony disc has this plaster as well.)

Meet the Parents - Same as Erin Brockovich.

2001

Jurassic Park III - Same as The Lost World, but with the URL website byline instead of the copyright stamp.

Monsters Inc - Same as Toy Story.

The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (Both Theatrical and Extended) - The 1994-2010 New Line Cinema logo uses the 2003 Time Warner byline instead of the 2001 AOL byline.

2002

The Scorpion King - Same as Erin Brockovich.

Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones - Same as The Phantom Menace.

The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (Both Theatrical and Extended) - Same as The Fellowship of the Ring.

2003

Finding Nemo - Same as Toy Story.

Hulk - Same as The Scorpion King.

Love Actually - Same as The Scorpion King, except it is zoomed-out and sourced digitally.

2006

Hot Fuzz - Same as The Scorpion King.

American Gangster - Same as The Scorpion King.

The Mist - The Dimension Films logo is plastered with the 2013-current Lionsgate logo.

2008

The Incredible Hulk - Same as The Scorpion King.

WALL-E - Unlike some of the pre-2008 Pixar films where the 1995-2007 Walt Disney Pictures logo infamously got plastered with the 2006-2022 logo, this one is an interesting case, where only the closing variant of the 2008-2019 reanimated version of the 1995 Pixar Animation Studios logo got replaced with a custom variant where Luxo Jr.’s lamp breaks and WALL-E himself appears on-screen to replace it with a better lamp. This plaster is still present on the 2022 Criterion UHD release.

Mamma Mia! - Same as The Scorpion King.

Hellboy II: The Golden Army - The 2002 enhanced “zoom out” variant of the 1997-2012 Universal Pictures logo is used instead of the “non-zoom out” version from 2004, where the globe is zoomed-in at first and gradually zooms out further than usual at the end. The URL byline has also been removed as well.

2009

Fast & Furious - Same as The Scorpion King.

Avatar - The 2009-2020 20th Century Fox logo is plastered with the 2020-current 20th Century Studios logo. Thankfully, like with Star Wars I-VI, this plaster thankfully doesn’t affect the iconic fanfare!

2010

TBD.

2011

Cars 2 - The “Celebrating 25 Years” variant of the 2008-2019 Pixar Animation Studios logo is plastered with the standard version on ALL official home media releases, including the stereoscopic 3D version.

2012

TBD.

2014

TBD.

2015

TBD.
