I am holding out for a 4K, it may be a loooong wait!

My household has contributed to some of this change. At a young age I was mail ordering amateur radio gear, camping items, outdoor clothing, etc. because there was none available locally. We have not made a significant B&M purchase for many years as we buy most items online.
The only major physical retailer left in the US is Walmart. GameStop tried to get back into selling movies, but it failed because Walmart just bought SDS after Best Buy exited the physical market.

My local Newbury Comics stopped selling movies and I think they only kept them for so long because of me.

I told them I will miss them. (But I will still buy my daughter Vinyl there.)

I have found I save a lot of time by just buying online and I tend to find everything and I get real time info as to if it's in stock or when it will be available. I may actually prefer to shop this way.

Pioneer exits optical disc market after 45 years in business

https://www.flatpanelshd.com/news.ph...&id=1746788660

Very sad news... Pioneer makes, as far as I know, the best PC drives, which still make it possible to decrypt UHD/4K discs. I bought recently a BRD212BK with a Vantec NexStar DX2 enclosure, and sold my old ASUS, which like LG, are really considered inferior.

Pioneer leaving this market is like Toyota, Volkswagen, Hyundai, Renault, the major ones, gone...

And very soon we aren't going to have even them.

For as long as people flock to cheap cheap cheap, good quality products/companies will eventually be disappearing. I’m posting my review on the JVC projector thread and yet, as usual, there is someone who concentrates of cheap cheap cheap.

Pioneer makes good PC Drives, but not the best I use Plextor PC Drives. IMO they are rated higher!

Had to switch my schedule around for the weekend. Catching Fight or Flight tomorrow in a non-premium screen and Tunderbolts in IMAX Sunday morning.

Watched some fantastic films on Blu-ray from Radiance this past weekend: The Eel & The Cat.

Placed an order with Orbit for Fistful of Dollars 4k, Shatter 4K, and Things To Do In Denver When You're Dead 4K.

I want to own Thunderbolts with luck on UHD BD .... not to sure about going to see it.

Good theaters are at least 70 miles away and it's rare when I go. I have a bad theater just down the street. I will go there to avoid spoilers or see something when I want to see it at first chance.

My home theater is better than my local theater. Seems like nonsense but if you went to my local theater you would agree. First problem is the floor is flat not inclined so the screen it very high to the point of being uncomfortable. It bothers me that the drop ceiling tiles are white because you can install black ones or paint the white ones. The sound is ok but you will get the bass from the other movies in the next rooms. The people walking in and out of the room during the show is the usually the biggest problem. The lights from the lobby show on the screen and the door thuds or fails to close completely. It's assigned seating so people lost not knowing how to find the seats is too sad.

Yeah, that’s a blind buy for home for me too.

There was talks of merging Honda, Nissan and Mitsubishi Motors but apparently that deal has fell through. On another note my new 2025 Chrysler Pacifica Pinnacle has a Blu-ray player built in just like my 2015 Town & Country. The Pinnacle displays are much larger than the ones used in the T&C.

alchav21 - The Chrysler dealer accepted my old fashion personal paper check for the Pinnacle without hesitation.

Don’t believe Plextor ever made a UHD Blu-ray drive and I have never saw where their Blu-ray drives could be flashed to read UHD Blu-ray disc like you can with ASUS, Pioneer, LG and other Blu-ray drives. No matter, Plextor is gone and soon Pioneer as well.

Honda is my all time favorite so I don't want them to merge with anyone.

Though in my family we have 4 of them not counting the lawn mower so I guess we are sort of all set.

Even though I love Honda, my 1973 Convertible Super Beetle is a lot of fun and I hope to have it street legal and on the road soon.
