Including a 128TB model planned for release this year!
I think I would rather have a raid , but that is impressive.

I would make that claim about my now 8 year-old Oppo 203. It has never given me any grief AND it supports Dolby Vision.

My 13 year-old Oppo 93 is going strong, too.

Let's see if the PS5 has similar longevity. My 18 year-old PS3 still works fine; hopefully the PS5 is just as well built.

I updated the Home Video Sales thread with the latest Format Market Share Report.

The 1st quarter Digital Entertainment Group report should have been released by now; maybe it will next week.

As for me, I have 24 more days of recovery ahead of me. I am still as weak as a kitten, but nowhere near as cute. I have been able to resume watching movies a few nights a week, but not every night as nature intended.

Good to see you posting!!!

My 203 is coming up to 9 years old and still works fine. It does not get the use it once did because of moving to file play. Really disliked that it locked out settings when playing DV disc. If DV pixel peeping is real important to you then you may want a different player. Stacey Spears talked about the 203 DV short comings in the Spears & Munsil UHD Test Disc thread.

For me, I am still using Filmmaker Mode on the JVC RS3200 projector for Blu-ray titles and Frame Adapt HDR 1 for UHD Blu-ray titles and I am very happy with the results.

PS4 and PS5 are rocks, no evidence that PS5 won’t continue this trend.

Good to see you back!

They are having another go at short (micro) form drama, but this time it’s a huge hit. Huge in China, and now starting to make big impression in other countries, including USA. The actual content content looks dreadful, but million's like dreadful stuff. Just 1-2 minutes in length but forming around 40-100 episodes per title, it’s been tipped to disrupt the market.

Let it go. It means nothing. The movies that you love are in no danger.

Hi everyone. It's been a long time since I last posted, but I've been in Japan for 14 months and finally got settled in with some A/V purchases, including an 85-inch Bravia 7, a PS5, and a UBP-X700 that I bought on a recent trip back to the states (was about $100 cheaper than buying it in Japan). I plan to buy a 7.1 AV receiver and get a 3.1 setup going. Unfortunately, I live in a dorm so I don't have enough space to get a bigger setup. My current setup already takes up about half of my room and I'm watching the TV from like 6 feet away.

I've been catching up on UHD releases recently, like Dune 2, RRR, Godzilla Minus One, Furiosa, and Venom 3. Will be watching Godzilla x Kong tonight. 4K OTA has been kind of underwhelming so far. The signal is rather unstable (yesterday I wasn't able to watch a single 4K channel) and about half of the channels are shopping channels. The most interesting content I've seen so far were some music videos showing ocean life. Can't complain though since it's free.

In terms of movies, Japan has been disappointing. IMAX is all Lie-max and there's no such thing as $5 Tuesdays. I don't really care for Japanese cinema aside from horror movies and Pokémon, but they stopped making movies of the latter. Sometimes it takes over a year for Western movies to get released here. I also live pretty far from the closest movie theater. When I watched Kalki 2898 A.D., the showtime was at 10 PM, so at 1AM when the movie was over I ran 8 miles to get home (on a weekday too). I will try to catch the last Mission Impossible movie on the big screen, though.

Glad to see everyone still here.

Concerning development nonetheless, huge 6 billion, which isn’t far off China’s actual box office, it’s obviously going to be a new category at least.
It might also cannibalise long form, because it’s cheaper to make and has a quicker turnaround for profit.

Welcome back, nice purchases there. Be sure to pick up Astrobot for PS5, it’s superb.

I already had two two players by the time PS5 came out. But I get what you are saying, I did the same with PS3 (came out a few months later and way cheaper).

My next door neighbor is most often my movie buddy lately. Her main criteria for choosing a movie is nothing over 90 minutes.

Thank goodness I still enjoy watching movies alone.
