Not sure if this is the best place to put this, but there is a new Final Destination 6 movie set - including Bloodlines that I literally just saw in the theaters! - for only $38. That is insane, imho, considering it includes a movie still playing!

What the heck? That's a suspiciously good deal and I can't make sense of it. What's the catch?

Release date TBD

They're likely doing a quick cash grab before they release the first one on 4k imo.

You can pretty easily find the 5 film collection for dirt cheap as well which are probably the same discs as this new set.

Some awesome deals. Amazon is matching or beating a couple of them. I really want Blank Generation at that price! It's not like I haven't put together a $75 order mainly for one title before. I'm going to have to think about this one.

It's a tough call, man. I just ordered 4 4Ks from them recently and so I am out on another order so soon. They have been doing a lot lately though~so maybe they will have another one at some point

True, but you are paying just over $6 for each film - including a brand new release. Or, put another way, Bloodlines on BR itself is going for $25! Which would mean you are paying $12 for the other 5 films. I have never seen that set go that low.

I took a spin through all their stuff again just to check and they do have some awesome stuff. I would have grabbed the expanded editions of 2 Screaming Trees CDs but they are sold out. They also have some pretty amazing merch. I guess I should have know that Gibby Haynes and Andrew WK bobbleheads existed... but I didn't.

I'm about to do a hamiltonbook order so I might pick up Blank Generation there. It's about the same price it would be at at MVD with the shipping.

Thanks for posting this! I always have fun l looking at their site.

The 5-film set is 12.99 on gruv currently, though it's sold out at the moment. I think we paid about 10 bucks a year ago from them, after 15% off at their ebay store.

Wow. My favorites are 2, 5 and 6. However, I cannot watch 5 in 2D after I saw it in 3D. That is the best 3D experience in my collection. Definitely worth getting that in 3D separately if that version is not included in any set.

Any retailer or label sales expected for June? I've received an early $100 Father's Day allowance and I'm particularly wondering if the next B&N Criterion sale might be happening soon. Thank you.

B&N Criterion sale should be most/all of July. Kino Should be coming towards the end of June. I'm not sure what else right now. Still waiting to see when Severin has their Summer sale...

Very true. Everything I ordered from them arrived with loose discs. It seem sno matter how much you order from them they leave tons of empty space in the box so everything bumps into each other. I'm surprised I didn't have broken cases; I suppose I got lucky there.

My IDOJ limited box set was worse then just a loose disc . Box was crushed . and this was done before packaging , Some employee/packer dropped it , Its heavy so the impact was pretty bad . They said no way it was us and blamed the shipping service . They plain out lied to me . In the end they did make it right with some discounts that brought the set down to about $90USD . But yeah a nice limited edition set with a huge gash in it makes me not want to order anything like that again , They also repack 4K UHD and reseal them like many USA shops do . So you can't get away from shops selling you returned items . A loose disc is really no big deal , But I get its not ideal, As long as nothing is broken inside then the disc should be free of scratches . I try and order direct when I can but I'm not going to pass up a nice sale from Amazon or whoever . I till thank god that we have tons of new back catalog releases on physical media .

I am surprised at the bad experiences with JBHF. Maybe because I have only ordered Imprint's hard-as-a-brick box sets that nothing has come damaged. Unless, as sa5150 experienced, something is damaged before shipping (which I personally believe is highly unusual), I can't imagine these sets having any disc damage. Perhaps a ding in a corner, but the shipping boxes that I have received have been very sturdy. I don't even understand how there can be a loose disc in those sets the way they are stuffed in those LE boxes. Though I can see for single releases a potential for problems.

Yes, they definitely should pack bubble wrap or something to protect the box, but still I have never had an issue with damage on these sets. I am sorry others have experienced issues.

Style Wars (Blu-ray) is on sale at MVD right now @ $11.97
Amazon has it for $11.55

Highly recommend if this is something that looks interesting to you.

Quote:
When director Tony Silver and co-producer Henry Chalfant delivered the broadcast version of their prize-winning film to PBS in 1983, the world received its first full immersion in the phenomenon that had taken over New York City. The urban landscape was physically transformed by graffiti artists who invented a new visual language to express both their individuality, and the voice of their community. In STYLE WARS, New York's ramshackle subway system is their public playground, battleground, and spectacular artistic canvas. As MC's, DJ's and B-boys rock the city with new sounds and new moves, we see street corner breakdance battles turn into performance art.

Bonus Materials
  • The Outtakes: A brand new 40 min film. With the help of donors and fans from Kickstarter we sorted through almost 30 hours of left over materials to bring you hidden gems and fascinating moments never before seen. Also transferred to HD from the original
  • B-Boy Showcase: A montage of fast paced phenomenally acrobatic gems. The Rocksteady Crew at their tour launch party, in the studio, on the streets, and battling it out against Dynamic Rockers at the United Skates of America in Queens.
  • Style Wars In The Cutting Room: In the summer of '83 a camera crew visited Valkhn Films, an editing house where Style Wars was being painstakingly sliced together. This is a rare glimpse at the process of telling a real story as it's happening
