I watched the international cut this past weekend and I honestly liked it a little more than the TC. It just felt a bit "deeper". We're not talking apple and oranges, both cuts are pretty similar but the IC had some extra emotion to it that made it a bit stronger. Too bad they didn't give it the love they gave the TC because it took a minute to get used to the quality. Anyway it was fun to revisit this movie as it's been a long time since I've seen it. Great release over all!

That is exactly what it is. The Eric hospital toothpick leg scene always gets me fired up, and adds to you wanting Kurt to get revenge.

Would love it if a UK label released the international cut from film elements. As I have said a billion times before, I know where the film elements for the UK BBFC cuts are, I just need a UK label to come along and get in touch. Second Sight would be leading contenders.

Hopefully it happens one day.

Just finished my 1st yearly rewatch of kickboxer 1-4. The 1st film ends in a satisfying way for Kurt’s story while 2-4 are a great David trilogy, each with a different side to his personality & fighting styles. Appreciate that there’s no rinse & repeat story-wise either. I found similarities that I didn’t notice before between all 4 films:

1 & 2: Kurt & David both hit tong po in the heart.

1 & 3: Kurt warns Eric of having his wallet stolen. Marcos takes David’s wallet.

1 & 4: Kurt & David are surrounded by beautiful women but neither of them are interested. Kurt only has eyes for mylee & David wants his wife (constant shots of his wedding ring).

2 & 3: Xian looking up when tong po’s name is announced in 2 & when frank lane is revealed as the pimp in 3. 3 is also a redemption story for 2 in David & Xian saving Marcos & Isabella.

2 & 4: two women check David out as they walk past him in the beach in 2 & two women also check him out by looking back at him in the compound in 4.

3 & 4: it’s interesting how David gets called pretty as a compliment by a woman in 3 but then called pretty boy by a man as an insult in 4.

Got this new 4K for my Bday. One of my all time favorite movies. I was reading about all the different cuts, which I actually never knew about. Apparently every single cut has something the others don't have. I wonder why they cant just put everything in one cut.

Once again I have to sing the praises of this set. Hits perfect everytime. Can't believe we have all these great Van Damme movies in 4k now. I really hope someone does the sequels to this and Bloodsport!

I have one ordered from Amazon that's supposed to arrive by Monday or earlier. Should I keep that order or pay 50% more from one off of eBay that I can actually view before buying? After some of the situations with the NOTLD 1990 steelbook set....I'm afraid Amazon is going to send me a repackaged one that someone sent them back as defective. I think I'm going to cancel my Prime membership. I just don't trust these people anymore..

Yeah I've been wondering about Joel as well. There was another member that went missing for a while and I remember Joel saying how he hates when that happens because it makes him concerned something might be wrong. Seems strange that he would do the same thing.
