I think people in this thread sleep on the books too much. Some really awesome ones at HB.

I was pleased to see AKORIS also get the Humphrey Bogart book. I have no idea if it was because of my post or just a coincidence - I don't want to take credit - but either way, it looks fantastic.

And I believe this is still in stock.

Very handsome book, especially for the $6 or so I paid.

I did an order last Thursday as I spaced the drop was only a few days away, did a small order last night after a few titles "sold out," and another this morning. A lot of stuff coming:

Order One:

and these books:

HOWARD THE DUCK, VOLUME 2: Marvel Masterworks Item #: 9105980
THE MAN WHO FELL TO EARTH Item #: 9157786
OZZY AT 75 Item #: 9207937
POE: Stories and Poems Item #: 9151362

Order Two (last night - Rangers a wish list price cut)

And order Three (just a bit ago - threw in another price cut):

Cyborg and Ninja are upgrades.

I did shoot an email to see if they could combine orders but not too worries either way; Hamilton Book has saved me so much money it hardly matters (or conversely has cost me so much money ).

(Sorry you're having a bad start to the week GW - don't let it get you down. We love Hamilton Book!)

I'm glad I checked. I didn't expect the ones I wanted to come back in stock, or that they actually didn't really go OOS. I hurried and did a very superficial job on the price cuts (most of which I haven't seen) which amounts to pasting the name into this site, scrolling to the last paragraph if a review exists, pasting the name into IMDB, glancing at the ratings and rejecting anything under 5. That ended up eliminating some of those cheap westerns like A Tale of Two Guns. I like good westerns, but so many of them have bad reviews, even a recent Nic Cage western whose name I forget. Proper research would take me at least 10 minutes each which I didn't have this morning, especially with the worry the ones I wanted would go OOS.

There are a lot of BDs in the $2.95 to $4.95 range that are BD-25 with few or no extras. This includes some of the recent $4.95 BDs, like I.S.S. and The Fabulous Four. To me that screams laziness, but at $2.95 it's more tolerable. I'll wait for those lazy $4.95 BDs to hit $2.95, especially since I've become squeamish paying $4.95 or $5.95 on minimalist BDs from RLJ, Decal, etc. because those usually get a price cut. You get burned enough times by price drops, you start to learn.

The only ones I paid $4.95 or above were the Shout/Scream Factory ones which appear to be popular and possibly OOP or likely to become that way soon. All the recommendations on The Resurrected caused me to buy that which was my most expensive one. The Killing Box and The Lodgers @ $1.95 had poor reviews so I skipped those. Yet I still bought too many $2.95 blind buys. The best part of a $2.95 BD is that HB can only drop those by another $1.95 to make me feel bad I bought too soon.

Placed another small order with the "restocks." Considering I got 15 movies for like $80 I can live with a second shipping charge.

I've already gone into my research methodology in the past, some of which you rejected, but I will explain my specific process for the movies I ordered with this drop.

I try not to let "this is going OOP" or "this has no U.S. Blu-ray" (or whatever) FOMO influence me. If it's a movie that interests me and it also happens to fall into one of these other categories too, great, I'll grab it.

AFTER MIDNIGHT: Horror anthology. Looks interesting. Took a chance on it.

AMBULANCE: I like Larry Cohen, I like the cast, and I've been wanting to see it. I overlooked it in my first order because I assumed it was the Michael Bay movie. I've had this on my watchlist a while, and I was gutted I missed/overlooked it, so I was happy to get it in Round 2.

DEATH WISH: A $5 4K for perhaps Bruce Willis's last legit role (or at least one of his last) is a nice impulse bargain purchase.

FREAK SHOW: I had this in my wishlist - probably because of Queen Bette - and it dropped in price, so I took a chance on it.

GATE II: Sequel to a movie I already own.

ICE ROAD: Netflix exclusive (I think), no U.S. Blu-ray, and what looks like a fun Liam Neeson action flick - I left it behind last month but said to myself I'd probably get it if it stuck around for the next drop.

I.S.S. (RECOMMENDATION): I preordered this a while back for $12.99 because that was a good price for a new release. No regrets. I understand why you want to wait for another price drop. IF it lasts that long, you'll be getting a good score.

JOHNNY COME LATELY: James Cagney, interesting plot.

MR. MOM: I have the DVD, which is horrible (non-OAR, looks like shit, etc.), so this was an easy upgrade.

MY BROTHERS: Missed this in a previous drop years ago and it looks good, so I got it this time.

PRANCER: Christmas movie.

TRY AND GET ME!: I watched this on The Criterion Channel recently and enjoyed it. Thanks to jmclick for mentioning it in this thread a few weeks ago. He also watched it on the Channel.

WHATEVER MAY COME: $1 and looks interesting. I hope GW gives us at least one $1 movie in every drop.

WILLIE DYNAMITE: I watched this a while back and really liked it.

HUMPHREY BOGART: The Making of a Legend (BOOK): It's Bogie!

I'll also watch two unrelated movies back to back because they have the same name. I did that with Road House (1989, 2024, and 1948).
Hey, I think you were able to get The Ambulance, so that's cool. And, yeah, I sometimes can't figure out what to watch next so when I do stuff like watch movies with the same name it makes it easier.

How was the Road House remake?

It's...fine.

I like Jake G., I like the new Florida setting, I could have done with a lot less of Conor McGregor.

Stanis....I can NEVER say what will happen when 3 per order limit falls off in a few days but...I have a lot of:

Death Wish
Prancer
Ambulance
Home for the Holidays

The best I can say is, they are the SAFEST to wait on....but everything is relative!

This is so correct. I used to think I bought and sold books. My main job now is actually "problem solving", and fellas this week we got a little bit of everything here!
