There's an interesting discussion going on in the WEAPONS thread about how dark the movie is. I'm playing catchup, as I generally don't venture into anything that can spoil a movie before I've seen it. I've now seen it twice (UHD ordered). It seems as though people have been voicing a concern from both the theatrical and streaming presentation.

To me the movie is not the most visually appealing as it's colour palette is intentionally drab...but IMHO, seeing what is going on in the nightime scenes is essential to enjoying the film. I know I'm watching the stream and I know that my display is not an OLED...but damn it renders these scenes flawlessly..

I rewatched BARBARIAN last night, also via stream...damn could this movie use a UHD release or perhaps the same bandwith allotted to the WEAPONS stream?

Amazon ending amazon sharing the same week as prime day is well played. On the nose but well played. I miss when we had options and multiple stores to buy from.

You still do. There are MANY online stores where you can buy discs and they all offer free shipping at various spending thresholds, some of which are as low as $35.

I haven't ordered anything from Amazon since July, but I have ordered quite a bit elsewhere. Almost every one of these other online stores did a far better job packaging my purchases for shipment, too. None of my non-Amazon orders arrived damaged in any way.

Three possible movies being shown at a cost of $104-$350 per ticket is not going to threaten traditional ways of viewing movies in the slightest.

"Tickets for the movie range between $104 and $350 and can be purchased on the Ticketmaster website."

"guests paying an average of almost $200 per person."

https://www.8newsnow.com/news/local-...ster%20website

It's kinda funny how you omit pertinent information like the price of these tickets while you try to present this news as some sort of ill omen.

And do you know what they estimate they will earn from a year long stint? Near 1 billion!
Also, for the planned mini spheres, prices will be cheaper.

Brian...are you reading this?

Looks like another HT remodel is in order to be able to play the new format...

Gotmule...You may want to hold off on that rough in and call your contractor with the new plans..

I'll hold off and let you guys go first so that I can learn from your mistakes....

Looks like I'm going to need a larger retirement home than planned...or maybe a larger backyard..

Had to pre-order this. Amazing movie and highly recommended. It's not an easy watch but well worth it. If Running Man is half as good as the trailers then this year will have produced 3 of the best Stephen King adaptions ever (Life of Chuck being the third).

You can absolutely hold me to it. I'm a life long Stephen King fan and own 90% of his books in Hardcover. The Long Walk was always my favorite of the Bachman books so I may be a little biased. My son has never read any King, however, and agreed with my opinion of The Long Walk. Easily top 10 movie of the year, probably top 5 for me. Life of Chuck as well.

Those 3 are absolutely classic King films and some of my favorites also. I would add The Shining and Doctor Sleep to that list.

I really enjoyed The Long Walk as well, super depressing, great performances, while some issues are present, far exceeded my expectations.

Pre ordered, it was a no brainer. I second the Doctor Sleep mention, I enjoy it every bit as much as The Shining, especially the stronger director’s cut.

You guys hit 5 of my top ten for King adaptations for sure. I would have to add It part I, Misery, Carrie, Green Mile, and Dolores Claiborne to round it out…..but I think Long Walk is going to bump Dolores out.

Carrie, good gracious yes, one of my absolute favourite horror films, add Shawshank and Stand By Me to the list.

Starting plans for the micro sphere.

Don’t worry Steedeel, my daughter went to the movies. She went for a $5 screen unseen in which you don’t know what movie you get. She saw one directed by Scarlet Johansson called the Eleanore the Great.

The price of admission will have to drop meteorically from that $200 average before I, and most people, would even consider watching a shortened version of The Wizard of Oz. They cut an entire song and 12 minutes from this classic movie for this spherical presentation and I do not know why that was necessary unless it allows them to squeeze in more showings over the course of a day.

Just what we need: more eyesore architecture that will be hard to repurpose after this fad runs its course.

They cut a total of 30 minutes.
