New bowl in either December 2010 or January 2011 is the Yankee Bowl, which will feature the 4th place Big East team against the 7th place Big 12 team and played at the new Yankee Stadium in New York. Because I know if I was a fan I'd want to go sit outside in New York in December for 4 hours. This means 70 teams will make bowls, and only 50 won't make a bowl.

Heard on the radio that the reason Gameday is going to the FSU/Boston College game is because they will be interviewing former Boston College linebacker Mark Herzlich, who learned in May that he had a rare form of bone cancer. If he had entered the draft he likely would have been a first round pick but he chose to return to BC for his senior year. He is hoping to be able to play football again next season.

Heisman Trophy winner Sam Bradford will not start for No. 8 Oklahoma on Saturday at No. 17 Miami. Sooners coach Bob Stoops says Landry Jones will start for Bradford, who hasn't played since spraining the AC joint in his right (throwing) shoulder the first week of the season. "Sam has made daily progress, but we don't feel like he's quite where he needs to be yet," Stoops said in a statement. "Our team has a lot of confidence in Landry's ability and we're looking forward to going into the game with him at quarterback. Our approach will be the same that it has been in the last two games." Stoops did not say whether Bradford could serve as Jones' backup. Bradford sprained his shoulder when he was slammed to the turf while being sacked late in the first half of Oklahoma's 14-13 loss to BYU on Sept. 5. Jones, a redshirt freshman, replaced Bradford in the next two games, which were back-to-back shutouts against Idaho State and Tulsa. Jones, threw a school-record six touchdown passes in a 45-0 victory over Tulsa on Sept. 19, OU's last game. For the season, Jones is 49 for 81 for 673 yards with nine touchdowns and three interceptions. Well this is certainly good news for me. The 'Canes have a better chance to win without Bradford playing. This is undoubtedly a gut check game for Miami, it's very important for them to make it a good game. Another 24 point loss would not sit well with the big suits at Miami in regards to Randy Shannon. I believe we can win, the talent on our roster can hang with anybody in the country, but as has been the case the last couple years, we don't live up to our potential. This is the biggest game of the Randy Shannon era for Hurricanes football to date, make no mistake about it. I'm pumped and scared for the game at the same time as I have been all week. As always I'll be cheering my blood, sweat, and tears out for the Miami Hurricanes! |

Oregon is considering reinstating running back LeGarrette Blount, who was suspended for the year after punching a Boise player after the first game. It's likely the reinstatement wouldn't come before Oregon's October 17 bye week.

I agree, especially for a senior. He shouldn't have punched the Boise player but the player came up to him and was taunting him and I bet a lot of players would have reacted the same way after a tough loss. Boise State made it worse by repeatedly showing the punch on their video board, which got a public reprimand from Oregon and the Pac 10 conference and which Boise admitted shouldn't have been shown.

True.
What he did is deplorable. We expect more from the athletes. But the Boise State player shouldn't have run his mouth. He wouldn't dare say something to him off the field and/or without his buddies around him. Maybe he learned a lesson. |

Notre Dame is in danger of not selling out their game Saturday against Washington. They have sold out every game since 1971, a string of 207 games. I'm surprised because they're playing a decent opponent and the team has been decent this year, and Notre Dame has one of the largest fan bases in college football.
