Samsung LED fascination

Every time I get into a conversation with co-workers about TVs they always say the same thing "have you seen the Samsung LEDs, They look great". So, I tell them about my Kuro and I get blank faces and when I tell them it's a plasma they laugh and say Plasmas get burn in and couldn't touch an LED tv for picture quality. Do they need glasses or their head examined. Even the new Panasonic plasmas look better than those eye scorching LEDs with that soap opera motion. What is the fascination with LEDs?
