The unintentional comedy scale that is.

I woke up this morning and saw my email and PM box lit up.

For some reason, some folks who normally don't fall prey to rumors seem to think there's something going here.

Somehow I doubt it. The last I heard, the earliest we'd see something one way or the other would be CES 2008, after people see the holiday sales and so forth.

Supposedly before 10 pm Pacific tonight this might go down?

Frankly, I call BS until I see otherwise.

That must have been amazing! In my opinion, Peter Gabriel is one of the most talented and infulential musicians of the 20th & 21st century. He's an absolute genius.

Hello folks.
I cannot believe this thread has hit 60 pages. I tried to answer every PM that you guys sent me yesterday and I'm trying to read the topic and answer any questions you guys might have which is hard considering the amount of posts.
I'm glad to say things are on order and announcement is indeed due 10AM Pacific Time.
For now let me try to address few questions :

-As for Nickerson leaving Warner, I have head few stories but I'm not really sure if they are correct. Some say he was leaving because he wanted to, some day after Paramount announcement a change was inevitable (Warner being last dual format supporter) and Nickerson didn't have any plans. So nothing specific that I have here share with you.

-As for Warner not waiting till 2008 to announce exclusivity, the answer is simple. Here's what I have heard :
"The initial plan was to get Warner exclusive on Blu-ray and declare the news in 2008. the deal was reached last month. However considering the upcoming hollidays, BDA pressured Warner to make the announcement in Q4 so they can sell more units. Also there will be a coupon in Harry Potter set (take this with a grain of salt) that will give customers 100$ off on a Blu-ray player (Probably Panasonic). What BDA didn't succeed in was to prevent Warner from releasing HD DVDs till the end of 2007 which is not shocking considering the contract Warner has with Toshiba and the backlash Paramount caused by stopping their support so sudden. So Warner chose to be smart here.

Guys less than 4 hours is left till the announcement. For those who have doubt me, you are going to enjoy the news even more since you didn't expect it. For others, I'm happy that you guys wont be disppointed.

I have a meeting at 10. that means I woun't get to find out if this is true until 12. son of a.......unless I dare use my pda to watch this site in the meeting. lets hope i'm not presenting anything at 10:15. that would be bad. powerpoint presenting and blu-ray.com don't mix at the same time.

Thread is pointless without proof. Seconded notion that user needs to be banned and thread needs to be closed.

The G4 announcement only is only related to the network, and that announcement is at 7:20pm eastern time.

Rumor is that they're going HD.

I don't see a ban necessary until the rumour proves false. But a closure would be a good idea. Its wrong to get peoples hopes up. If its true, open a new thread. If not then open a rant thread. Simple, and it keeps things tidy.

Dude, I'm going to "suspend disbelief" for a bit here. If this happens (now) it will show that Warner has some class and will prevent a lot of folks from doing things and buying things that they would later regret should Warner announce Blu-ray exclusivity in early 2008. And they would be doing it in a way that was as gentle as possible on current HD-DVD fans.

im starting to not care if this is true or not. But have you seen hd-dvd sales over the past 24 hours. I doubt they've made one sale. If this isnt true, somebody needs to start another "rumor" when transformers is coming out to kill sales!
