Question Redbook on Blu-ray

Hello All,

Hoping someone can help me with this one. I have read that it is part of the Blu ray spec that 'ordinary' Redbook (16-bit / 44.1 khz) files may be written to BD-R in the same way that they can be written to DVD-R to make DVD-A discs. Let me explain:

I have a DVD-Audio player that I use to play DVD-A discs I rip myself from CDs. I take the 16-bit WAV filed ripped from CDs to build 99-track 4.7GB DVD-A discs using an authoring app called DVDA GUI (by Adobeman). I'd like to use 25GB Blu ray discs to do the same, but I have no idea what the format is (Profile 3?), or whether a specific audio-only disc is even necessary -- i.e., if a Blu ray disc filled with WAV files will not play on a Blu ray player anyway.

I know most people are interested in high-res audio on Blu ray, but the prospect of 500 full-res WAV files on a single disc is surely of interest to all, not just me. Five0gundred track Blu ray audio discs might stop the ausio side of this format dying the same death as the DVD audio format (and SACD, sooner or later).

Anyone know enough about the Blu disc format (maximum number of tracks, number of track groups) to illuminate this issue? Are there any apps on existence for this yet?
