I'm planning on buying a Panasonic 50S series plasma that is capable of "deep color". My setup is older "fat" PS3 connected to HK 247 receiver, then to TV. My understanding is that you need 1.3 hdmi for "deep color". The PS3 is capable, the TV capable but the receiver only has 1.2a hdmi version and allows 1080P pass through. If I connect directly to TV then I would not get my hd audio.
1) Does that mean that I would have to upgrade my receiver to one with 1.3 hdmi in order to get "deep color" from a blu ray? 2) Would the benefits of deep color justify spending the money to upgrade my receiver? 3) Is there any configuration that would allow me to get the deep color and hd audio without upgrading receiver? |
