Default Question: re Sharpness control on DLP TV

I know there is a whole lot of knowledge on this site, so I thought I'd try for a little free advice!

I have often seen posts advising people to turn off the sharpness control on their sets. I have an older 50" Toshiba DLP, the 52HM84. (And no, there are no listings for that model on the Tweat TV site). The sharpness was preset at 50%, and I've kept it at that, after tweaking the other settings. There is no "on" or "off" setting, just 0% to 100%.

Here's my question: Obviously I want the most accurate picture possible. I assumed that 50% was a neutral setting -- one that gave me an unaltered picture -- am I wrong? If I turn the sharpness down to 0%, does it give me a more accurate picture, or am I taking the it out of focus by going below the mid-way point?

Hope that makes sense! And thanks in advance.
