They are not blu-ray!! For the most part. I know I am not alone on this forum with people that absolutely love criterion dvds. I could easily pick about 20 or so to buy from this deal, and its a killer deal for criterion collectors. But also, we live in a time when a blu-ray release may be just around the next few months for particular titles such as seven samauri, bicycle thieves, or many of their other beloved titles. Take for example salo, it came out by criterion in the rereleased form and was amazing, then the BFI release a blu-ray less then a month later that blew it away. Or Black Narcissus...and these other releases are giving criterion a run for their money on extras also.
So, who here would buy a criterion dvd release over another companies blu-ray relase....or how many of you are holding out on buying all the movies you would want from this sale, in hopes of a blu-ray release coming soon? |
