Knocked Up #1 overall, by a very wide margin. No surprise there. I knew this would do well at B&M. I called 60/40. I guess I was bit too optimistic about Underworld.

"Next" actually beat Underworld.

Did Blu-ray even have that many popular releases last week? My memory is going blank.

Imagine how good Superbad will do. I think Superbad was way better than Knocked Up.

Ok, knocked up cleaned house. Seriously.

Number 2 was at 25% of Knocked Up!

i find it very good for blu-ray that the top hd dvd seller beat the top blu-ray seller by 4x and blu-ray still pulled off a win. it shows the depth and the legs of the blu-ray lineup.

Plus I know of at least one person that bought it 4 times at walmart trying to get it to work. I bet there is a lot of that. Eventually he even got them to give him the DVD instead.

That story was posted here, actually. I bet that's why Knocked up did so well because it took multiple buys to get and find a good one.

I think it's time to call a buy week for 2 weeks from Tuesday. I would hate to see HD DUD ever take the lead.

Based on the numbers this week, with an above average HD-DVD exclusive, do you still think Blu is going to win the week of Transformers?

It will never happen folks. We just have to accept it.

I still say Blu loses the week of Transformers 44/56.
Edit: And I think that's still being optimistic.

none of those big blu guns have begun to fire. they have shrek 3, bourne, and transformers up against: Die Hard 1-4, Spiderman 1-3, Ratatouille, Cars, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Pirates 3, Superbad and The Simpsons Movie.

That should dispel any hope of winning the Transformers week I would think?

What I don't get is why 300 is still the #1 Blu-ray..... It's not the greatest movie, nor is it that great of a reference disc either due to the intentional grain...

If a big day-and-date can swing it that much, Silver Surfer should do us some good in next week's numbers...

I kept telling everyone. I guessed it was going to be 55/45 a couple days ago so I was really close.

The reason why I believe is BR just didn't have ANYTHING to compete with those boxoffice titles. The business is driven by new releases and BR didn't have any. Not to mention BR hasn't had a big new release in over a month.

That's why the next two weeks are going to be good for BR and why I still think BR will overcome the beast that is TRansformers and win by a very slim margin.

Found this at AVS, these are last weeks number( the week before Knocked Up came out) broken down into per unit sold-

Top sellers by SKU:

Troy: Director's Cut BD 3822
300 BD 3770
The Condemned 3015
We are Marshall HD 2363
We are Marshall BD 1992
300 HD 1876
PE BD 1694
PE HD 1332
Smallville: The Complete Sixth Season HD 1248
Casino Royale 1176
Troy: Director's Cut HD 1182
Batman Begins 925
Smallville: The Complete Sixth Season BD 652

Those were last weeks numbers.

Lets just assume that 300 did 4000 units this week, that means Knocked Up only sold 16k units. That is not impressive at all. Now do people seriously think that Transformers will beat Knocked Up by a ratio of 6:1. I don't think so. The Blu-ray lineup is litterly running on fumes and still winning, once the big titles start hitting its game over.
