Default My Planet Earth disc not playing, yellow/goldish tint looking...

Well, what a surprise I had tonight. I popped in Disc 1 of Planet Earth into my Playstation 3. It showed the loading icon at the top right of the screen...and idled for a little while. Then the icon disappeared. So...I tried disc two, popped it in and it worked just fine. So, I went ahead and analyzed the two discs to see what I could find. The two pictures below illustrate the differences between the two discs(the one on the right is Disc 1, the nonfunctional disc).

So, what do you all think about this? I've had Planet Earth since the pre-orders were available on Amazon.com after the official announcement...so they've been in my collection for a bit. It almost looks like a burn...or general discoloration. I remember reading somewhere on the internet about a bacteria that supposedly fed on Blu Ray discs? Any thoughts? Thanks
