I just installed Frimware 2.4 this morning, and haven't had time to test it.
But ove the last few weeks running 2.3 - I noticed that the Zoom feature for Letterboxed 4:3 DVDs doesn't always work. Particularly, it doesn't seem to work with commercial DVD's, but does work ok with DVD+r movies I've made at home. Example: Grosse Point Blank commercial DVD, is 4:3 letterboxed, and the OAR of the Movie is 1.85:1. But on the Panny BD10a, the Zoom feature has no effect, and I still get 3 inch black bars at the top and bottom of the screen, and the Movie content is squished. Other 4:3 Letterboxed DVD movies with this problem include: French Kiss, Armageddon (standard release), and a few others. But, when I view 4:3 content from som TV shows I've burned to DVD, the zoom feature DOES change the aspect of the picture being displayed. Anyone else have this problem? |
