Default To buy or not to buy... that is THE question!

I know that the 'Spiderman' trilogy on Blu-ray is going to be a massive counter balance title to the "supposed" HD DVD 'Transformers' success. And I have been debating my intentions with regards to the purchase of this set.

On one hand, I know that my opinions of the trilogy stand steadfast in the face of popular opinion. The first sucked, the second was better and showed some promise (I actually appreciated what they were able to accomplish and it almost justified the first film... I stress the word ALMOST), and the third was a bigger waste of time than the first.

On the other hand, I know that having the trilogy handy for potential group gatherings would be highly beneficial... after all, like I said earlier, the popular opinion is astoundingly "two thumbs up". Thus, being able to show a High Definition version of the trilogy would be beneficial in possibly converting any guests to the Blu-ray camp.

So, the debate I've been hammering between the left & right hemispheres of my brain is whether or not to take one for the team and purchase a trilogy I personally don't go gah-gah over, but can enjoy to some meager extent. And, if I don't purchase it then I feel like I may miss out on the Blu-ray onslaught that will not only stomp on HD DVDs 'Transformer' gloating (which is inevitable no matter what the numbers say) but also help, once more, to secure Blu-ray as the undeniable format preference of the masses.

P.S. I do believe that I am currently sitting at 90% in favour of purchasing the trilogy... Hehehe
