Default Speaker setup

I have a satelite speakers and its frequency is from 120hz, is this means do I need to set my receiver speaker settings to 120+10hz? right now on the receiver all the speakers are set it at 80hz.

After reading this forum looking at HD-SUB12, right now I do have the Energy subwoofer ESW-8HG bought it from Costco for $99, which I didn't like it so far.

If the low frequency extension of the satellite speakers is 120Hz, you should definitely raise the crossover frequency (high pass filter) to at least 120Hz or higher.

If you buy a second subwoofer, you can place the stronger of the two up front in a corner and the smaller one somewher closer to you. Adjust their levels so that one subwoofer does not competely overpower the other one. Also, make sure the subwoofers are at least a foot or more away from the walls.

Well got received my Paid Shipping Label from Thedeepdiscount. I just got home from shipping it off at the UPS store. Im in MN, so hopefully the turn around time dont take to long since its only going to IL. I would have to say this is pretty great Customer Service. Hopefully my next HDsub doesnt have a defective amp.

Thanks BD.

On the receiver speaker configuration, I have the following:
FRONT 80hz
CENTER 80HZ
SURROUND 80HZ
LPF of LFE 120HZ

Do I need to change these FRONT, CENTER and SURROUND to 120HZ as well?

THe AA is broke in, and usually use it for movies as it seems to get a bit deeper than my psw110 , but not by much.. But for music and video games i use my polk, cuz the aa is terrible.. Especially for music games ( rock band GH etc , forza etc )

I use my polk 100% of the time, then plug in my AA for movies.. I just dont like the way it sounds with music.. Very hollow, and weak.. My polk Is just alot smoother, and plays music much better, and like I said Most games are "MUSIC" games

well first 10" subs are usually a little tighter and better for music, esp. when you are talking about a cheaper sub. Also, I know your big into car audio and unlike car audio you do not want the same boom as in car audio. A subwoofer should not be noticed. It should be the extension of your fronts and when properly tuned in you should think the bass is coming from your front speakers and not from the area in which your sub is located. Meaning it should be completely undirectional. Personally my AA is tuned it perfectly and I find that it adds to my music exceptionally well. Now it is not as good as say a Martin Logan Dynamo or Hsu STF-2, but those subs are in a little bit of a diiferent league.

Oh yea I understand that, But its just something about it not playing as deep and smooth as the polk.. Its ok, just not as good under certain situations... Like i said it just sounds hollow.. Ill try to tune and tweak my setup a bit, but ATM im trying to sell my 110 so I can pick up a Tempest X2 If that falls through, I just might grab a polk 505 just because I RRREALLLY like how they sound... And ill admit either of the 3 polks ive had dont hit the low end well but the 505 is a whole different story.. I might buy a few cheap bookshelves from Prts express and use the AA with them in my room for lil custom 2.1 for my laptop

I don't know anything about the Tempest. However you should also look at Hsu, Outlaw and eD for subs also. They all make awesome subs.

I love it.. The psw 10 was boomy, and had alot of port noise, but it did get loud, the psw 110 is just not enough for the size of my room , the dsw pro 600 was nice ,but not for the price.. The 505 seemed to have everything.. Hit very low played deep, Got very loud and sounded great,I believe It states the Fs @ 23 hz, and it easily gets down there .. Yes, i will say this is the 1st polk "budget " sub that is WELL worth $250....

I would love to compare it to a eD A2-300 just to see the difference actually

watching the mentalist right now and I could hear the "auto on" function kick on, it actually works, but it doesn't click like the Sony used to.

If you are using small satellite speakers for your front, raise the crossovers from 80Hz to 120Hz. There is no reason to strain the small speakers with frequencies that they cannot handle.

You could build a DIY eD subwoofer for $600 as well. Just an idea.
