Polyfill won't make it louder. Input signal strength will. Go to your receiver menu and make sure you have the sub. set to "on" or "yes". On your sub. set crossover all the way up. Set the level (volume) at about 50-60%. Turn the sub main power AND the auto/on switch to "on" to insure its operating. Again in the receiver menu set your crossover to 80hz or so, dependent on your speakers. Run your test tones and adjust to equalize each speakers volume. You should end up with the sub at around "0" which could vary for a number of reasons. You need to play something that has some deep bass to check for operation. If all seems well set the power auto/on to auto. If if cuts out leave it on or turn off power after use.

Default Audysey Results

Thanks.

I did the Onkyo auto audysey setup and it's adjusted all the frequency for speakers and calibration and distance of the speakers. On the SUB the calibration is set at -15db, do I need to change this settings manualy after audysey setup? Which mode you all watch movie/music, I mean PLx, THX movie, stero, etc? The receiver have lot listening modes as well.

After Audysey setup:
Front 90Hz
Center 100Hz
Surround 150Hz

Sub Calibration -15db.

man i tell you am i pissed. this AA hd12 sub is a pain in the ass. trying to sell the one i bought a few weeks back and right before the guy shows up to buy it there is no power going to the sub, so i tried 3 different outlets, NOTHING. then i go to pull the fuse out to check it and it wont come out!! WTF man this thing is brand new. then i pull the cover off, very gently and one of the little post nubs breaks off.

man am i glad i only spent $200 on this POS. why in the hell would there be no power?? anyone want to buy this? sell it really cheap at this point $140 shipped. i will put it on my sell thread anyways. just really frustrated, almost had it sold tonight. i called the guy and said dont bother. feel like a dope.

Default Sub level

[QUOTE=mt2010;2765984]Thanks.

After Audysey setup:
Front 90Hz
Center 100Hz
Surround 150Hz

Sub Calibration -15d --- On the sub. Set the level at 50%. On the receiver set the sub calibration at "0". Then listen to music/movie and adjust (on the the sub) the level to your liking. If auddesy set the level at -15 and you didn't hear the bass thats unusual. Its ok to tweak the levels after auto calibration.

Default New AA HD-Sub10 owner... Almost that is...

Just got the sub today. Bought via Amazon (had a gift card so went that way instead of eBay). Unfortunately, looks like I'm one of the few to get a defective one... The issues are:

1) "Crackle" and "popping" sound at low frequencies. Note that sub volume is set to 50% as per Big Daddy's advice... Cross-over at 120...

2) Loud hum. As per manual and advice on the forum, I plugged it into other outlets (the first outlet was, to begin with, not the same as where my components were) throughout my condo and still a loud hum (there is no hum with my current HTD 12 inch Level 3 sub).

3) Put it back to original location and connected it again. It hummed but then it went away... I got hopeful, but turns out problem now is that there is no sound from the sub at all. Power light is on though... I suspect a loose wire that finally came off.

If anyone has any idea/hint as to what is going on feedback would be greatly appreciated. I'm awaiting a response from the Deep Discount right now.

Note that I got the sub today. So it is "fresh out of the box"... I'm hoping to I don't have to pay for the shipment back to AA - really don't want a "repaired" unit as well. Want one that simply works out of the box. Will be a good test of The Deep Discount customer service.

I was soooo looking forward to hooking the sub to my home theater!!! Uhhhggg.... I pretty much purchased this solely based on the great review Big Daddy gave it... It does look great, now only if it worked!

It appears that the amplifier is defective. Unfortunately, there is nothing we can do. These amplifiers are mass produced in countries like China under very difficult conditions. In recent months, quite a few of these subwoofer plate amplifiers have been found defective for different companies, including Acoustic Audio.

Contact the company and make arrangements for a replacement. Make sure you register within 10 days of purchase so that your warranty is valid. Good luck.

join the club, mine does not even turn on. i bought it brand new from DD, but with there bad return policy and me not liking this sub i held on to it trying to sell it and now the warranty 10 period has past. what a POS, i guess you get what you paid for and this was a nice $200 lesson.

dont buy generic subs, go with a good name brand. you really get what you pay for and it truely is a $200 or less sub. this thing is off to the dump soon if nobody wants it....

On the receiver I had set the calibration as 0db (audysey had it -15db), now I am getting some loud sound and set the SUB volume around 50%. My Energy 8" sub have some deep strong sound than the HD-SUB12.

Does filling ploy will make deep strong sound? If it's not going to make much difference I am not going to do this.

Just to know, how do I take the grille out from the sub?

Default 12 vs 15

Has anyone heard the difference between the 12 and 15? Is the 15 worth the extra $? Trying to make a decision here. Also, has anyone heard the Polk 505 compared to these?

Thanks-

Sorry about the sub.
Think about doing what duneaholic did. Purchase & install a new amp( http://www.parts-express.com/wizards...AT&srchCat=505 ), then keep it as a spare sub.

dont be sorry, its my fault for not registering it. but on the other hand i was not keeping it, so i thought i was going to sell it. but i am very disappointed in the quality of these subs. i mean this thing is brand new and all this stuff goes wrong with it.

i am keeping my cambridge and paradigm cause they rock and they are very high quality compared to this sub

never again for me, sorry but just a bad expirience on this one and i hope others have better luck than i did.

Default Phase Adjustment of Two HD-SUB12's

I have two HD-SUB12 in my HT. One is near the front right corner of the room and the second is near the rear left corner of the room. I saw in Big Daddy's post that for setting up two subs in this configuration, you will need to switch the phase 180° of the rear sub to avoid phase cancellation. These subs don't have a phase switch on them so how do I do this to avoid any phase cancellation?

What are your experiences with setting up two of these guys? Thanks.

Usually any two subs working together is not a problem, but usually helps in evening out the bass in a room. Putting two subs out of phase does not necessarily equal the best room performance. Many factors come in to play. The AA subs don't have a phase switch but your receiver probably does. Phase is just "timing" which in effect is the sub "distance" setting in your receiver. Just put your subs where you want them and see how they sound. You can adjust the sub distance in the receiver to your liking. You'll still more than likely have some dips in bass. No hard fast rule here. If you adjust your sub distance in the receiver it will be affecting both subs equally. The room response may be quite different. You can also try facing both or one sub a different direction. Trial and error for the whole process. Good luck!

I've never owned the HD12 but I do own the HD15 and waiting on my second one it'll be hear tomorrow. (can't wait more bas then I can handle love it) But I tried a few days ago a series of test on the sub just to see how it would handle. I cranked up the rceiver db's and the gai on the sub itself. and WOW, it held up with no problem. I later tested some bass tester's MP3's and pushed the volume on my receiver much louider then I ever would and wow did it hanlde and cleanly too. FOR ME the AA HD15 is VERY worth the money. i cna get the sub to poitns where everythign in the sub is shaking and you have to yell to eah other to hear them. And it still hits everything great. looking forward to 2012 comming out that will be a great tester for the sub too. have no doubts it will handle easily.

Stinks that this had happend to you, but in all honesty, this is a very nice sub for the $200 less price point.

Trust me, I owned SvS PB-10nsd, MFW-15, CSX15, DCM 10" & VRP1200 and the AA12 from this price does a damn well great job from the performance stand point.

Not reading all your posts on the AMP issue you had / have , but from the last two is just complaint's. We got that input from you the first time.
Why not just contact AA to get an replacement? Wait.... shucks.... you forgot to fill out your warrenty form. I guess that is AA fault. I know BD on here gives a tip for most people on here when they purchased a AA sub is to register it. Wait.... you didn't get that memo either. Shame on BD!!!!

Hey if you want to throw it away, I'll take it.

dont really appreciate the attitude and i really dont think its funny. the sub is a POS and yes i will complain. this sub was sooo uplifted here and i was excited to order it and get it, then it comes in and my first impression out of the box is that it is very cheaply made. the tab broke off, cant pull the fuse out as it is so tightly screwed in & the amp blows . i did use it for a few days or so and didnt like it at all. some members told me to give it a chance so i hooked it up for another 4 or 5 days and still did not dig it.

now to hook it up again and to demo it for a potential buyer and it not even turn on no i didnt register it cause i did not plan on keeping it, so there ya go. why the heck should i contact AA and waste more time and money on this thing, i dont think so...

you want it??/ $100 plus actual shipping cost. half price sub for ya... let me know

I sympathize with your situation completely and have been there done that although not with these particular subs, [soapbox on] however I have to disagree with you on these subs being a POS. Yes, you got a bad one but that could have happened with any company. I have purchased two of these subs several months apart and both work flawlessly out-of-the-box. IMHO, the performance of these subs are great and the price cant' be beat. [soapbox off]

Default Oh, my

This brings back fond memories of my youth. My dad and uncle used to have to most entertaining "disagreements" over FORD vs CHEVY. It seems that my dad had purchased a couple of new Chevys over the years, and BOTH turned out to be lemons. Therefore, ALL Chevys were a POS. My uncle, on the other hand, had purchased a couple of new Fords ( on my dad's recommendation, no less ), and both turned out to be lemons. Therefore, ALL Fords were a POS. Lots of fun at family get-togethers ! Me - I drive a Jeep....
